Stacey Nickerson discovered her boyfriend Marquise Steens, 28, dead at his 205 Guerrant St. home after 8:30 p.m. Saturday night. Police who were called to the home later discovered the couple’s 7-year-old son, Malique, dead.

Malique was a budding athlete, who played on the Shiloh Baptist Church baseball team, served as quarterback for the Windsor Rams and dreamed of being a professional football player.

“He loved football. He said he was going to make it when he was older,” Nickerson said. “He slept with his football. He took a shower with his football. He took it to school.”

I found out about this last night at football practice. Malique played for Windsor's JV Peewee team. When our JV team (I coach varsity) played them a couple of weeks ago, I remember our JV coach talking about how good Malique was.

That's a damn shame. Why in the Hell would someone shoot a 7 year old? There is a special place in Hell for people that do this.

It's absolutely horrible that things like this and things far worse than this happen everyday.

This morning, I heard about the "ninja killings" of last year, in which a group of men went into the home of a couple known for adopting special-needs children and killed them. It really, really depresses me to know that you can do so much good in this world, only to have your life taken from you and your children's lives changed irrevocably.

It's a sad world we live in.

Usually over Drugs, Money, or both. It's wrong to assume that the woman's boyfriend as into something that he shouldn't have been, but very low percentage of murders are random. (Unless you count those as a result of a car accident.)

The little boy was most likely "collateral damage." Don't you like that word? "Collateral Damage." Sounds so much better than, "Our bad, we didn't mean to kill your *$$!" The military uses it all the time.

I did read that the father had a criminal history and I'm sure it probably was over something like that. Yeah, collateral damage is one of the dumbass PC terms that I can't stand.

However, there are rumors that the kid was beaten first, then shot.

I hate to say this, but I feel sure that while one was beating the kid the other held a gun to the dude asking where the money or drugs were....

Yeah it is, kind of reminds me of beginning scene of Law Abiding Citizen. If some guy was holding a gun to my head while they were beating my boy, I would have so much rage being built up I would turn into the incredible hulk and start going ape poo.

So they have arrested two guys for this. Apparently the guy who pulled the trigger was also wanted for raping someone. They killed/robbed them for $150 and $150 worth weed.
