Exactly. At the time Clausen had shown some decent play in preseason and Moore was playing poor and had a concussion just a week earlier. It was worth a gamble at the time. It is easy to look back after Moore's game and do the what if game but as you say, who knows if he would have played better in game 3 or he needed this time to come around.

eh, we know what Moore is.

he provides better QB play than we got in those 3 wasted games. It was a mistake benching him in week 2.....maybe we would have still lost but at least Moore/the season would have been given a legit shot.

I was against Moore getting benched at first but really I think it helped more than it hurt. He was making stupid decsions the first two games.

So Fox finally beats a back-up QB that gifts his team interceptions and you guys are in love with the offense... sigh...

- Matt Moore can't play under pressure at the beginning of the season.

- Moore still has a lot of untapped potential should he break that above said barrier.

- Clausen is a rookie.

- Clausen should have never started in the first place because there should have been a back up vet QB for buffer.

- Fox doesn't know how to create an offensive gameplan for a rookie because he's never dealt with it, especially when he has all rookie WR's.

- Fox can field a pretty damn good defense.

- It's a rebuilding year, you guys go try to win a game with our defense and offense,

Fox is coaching his ass off on the defense because our defense shouldn't be playing the way it is. It appeared to suck pretty bad talent wise (Landri and Johnson as starters? WTF?). Of course he suffers on the offensive side when he is putting everything into what he thought was the weakest link... the defense.

To all the people saying "we beat the worst team in the NFL don't get too excited"

I don't think most people are secretly telling themselves superbowl, or even playoffs.

Why am I excited (and probably most of the other optimistic people around here) about beating the 49ers..... because we showed improvement!! That's all I want to see this year is gradual improvement. If we see improvement this year our years to come will be fine. Yes Gettis and Lafell have only had one good game, but isn't that infinitely better than having no good games??? It can only mean they have the chance to be great.

Sorry to for all you negative nancys who won't be satisfied till we are hoisting the Lombardi trophy but for the rest of us average fans I try to enjoy the little things about the Panthers.

Totally agree, would ya rather be a Cowboy fan and watch half of your team quit on national TV? At least they are trying to win games and that's all you can ask for at this point.

Getting people to believe they were "right" is probably pushing it.

Honestly, I'd just settle for an acknowledgment that they know more about it than we do.

Yeah, they make mistakes, but just because you can run a successful Madden team in franchise mode doesn't mean you're the equal of an NFL GM.

In our situation a little competition at the QB position is a good thing. These guys are basically equal. Moore has some time in the league. Clausen's draft placement relative to Moore's implies he has more talent. Clausen got a shot. He wasn't ready. May the best man win.

I have a feeling every team we beat will suddenly become the "worst team in the league" Id not going to praise anyone, but everyone in this league gets paid to play, its any given sunday. I don't give a damn who it is. a win is a win.

everyone jizzes when the upper echelon teams beat teams that are deemed inferior. but when we do it its irrelevant. BS. take the win and move on to next week.

San Francisco's defense is pretty good. Statiscally, they are in the same neighborhood as the Bears. San Francisco is 1-6 because they turn the ball over a lot. Top 10 in the league in both fumbles and interceptions.

The offense may suck again next week, but we beat a good (not great) defense this week.

Sounds like the tale of two offensive struggles to me. We just got lucky Alex Smith went down. We were losing until then.

But if Moore/Gettis/LaFell can keep this up, we might finish 7-9 as I predicted. Notice I left Smitty out. I really think he'll be the biggest factor by being a non-factor at this moment in time (I pray other teams are dumb and put him on an island with single coverage).
