has a QB ever had such bad 3 games like jimmy clausen and become a pro bowler?

Not sure, but I think too much is made of using history to project the potential of current players.
agreed. same with team records.

i would even say that too much is made of what a player has done in previous years to project their current potential. mainly thinking about a discussion i was having on another board about farve. people thought of him as being an iron man coming into this season and coming off one of the best seasons statistically of his career while i was looking at a 40 year old man who had just had the beating of his life (thanks to a douche plan by gregg williams) who was coming back to the game in massive pain. a few games into the season he hasn't played well and now he has a fractured foot. same could be said for jake last year. while many of us were noticing that there was a big time falling off in his performance, there were others who kept on looking at his whole body of work and believing that he'd overcome his struggles.

point is, it can help looking at the past but past performance is far from being a reliable indicator of current and future trends. take it with a grain of salt and don't be blind to what is going on at the time.

I'm not even a Clausen fan. I'm just telling this guy not to expect 400 yard 3d games from a rookie. A lot of great QBs struggled as rookies. You can't really say he has shown no potential, you've seen him briefly with a terrible supporting cast.

saying he's shown absolutely no potential isn't fair. He's made some nice throws, just not enough to really raise any eyebrows, and not enough command of the offense to warrant considering putting him in right now, especially with moore playing as he did.

The Moore disciples hated Clausen the second he was drafted.

They could not believe that the FO was not made up of Moore disciples.

Moore stunk it up and they blamed Clausen for getting sent in by Fox.

Then they were thrilled when he did not play better.

Now that Moore (and Derek Anderson) has replaced Jimmy Clausen (and Max Hall) they are proclaiming victory and reaffirming that Moore (the Derek Anderson of the AZ Cardinals) is the chosen one.

And yet still, reality never hits. Carolina and Arizona are competing for 31st and 32nd in NFL offenses.

You forgot to mention the impressive 48.9 passer rating over that span. I wonder if they regretted not taking Ryan Leaf?

Manning struggled his first season... Threw for 26 touchdowns... but also 28 picks... only won three games that year, still passed for 3,739 yards. Showed Promise... He could put points on the board. We'll never see if Jimmy would have been able to turn it around... He's back on the bench and unless an injury to Moore he'll stay there. Moore lost his job once and then take in to the Kolb-Vick situation... Moore's going to play no matter what.

Wouldn't be astonished if Moore loses us a couple games, we get officially knocked out of playoff contention, he plays a few more, then in the last couple we see what Clausen can do again, just so we have a better idea of what we have in him.

Also, if we got Harbaugh and drafted Luck I'd probably die laughing. I have no idea how it'd turn out, but that'd be insanity...

With the way our D is playing, how bad would our O have to be in future games for us to even have a chance at Luck? =|

its worth a shot to me. he's here and under contract for a few years. throw him in and see if he's worth keeping around.

I should note I really hope Moore keeps us in contention and plays well, since I suspect someone will respond to my post with "AH-HAH, YOU WANT MOORE TO DO WRONG@2!232!!" but no, I don't. I would like nothing more than for him to prove to be a franchise QB.

i don't care who it is as long as we have someone that fills that void that we have had for so long.

See I think he has shown some potential. He has good pocket awareness, moves around well, and hasn't made many bad decisions that resulted in Interceptions. But he is at least a year, perhaps two from being ready to compete in the NFL. Not saying he will eventually be ready, just that its going to take some work and time for him if he is ever to be successful. Like I said when we drafted him, don't care if he did play for a similar system, there is a world of difference between playing against Navy, and playing against NFL defenses.
