Any runners here?

I know someone who has them and loves them.

I run pretty much everyday, but I cheat. Treadmill, in front of the TV with the fan on high. :D

I don't know how you do that. When I was losing my weight the first time, I bought a Nodic-trak. I figured that I could be inside in the AC and watch TV. After a week of that, I gave it up and just started walking outside. The Nordic-Trak so boring that I was going crazy.

So sunshine, snow, rain, I walked and 3-5 times a week I went to the gym and lifted weights. I went on a 1000 calorie diet and got up to 4 1/2 miles in the morning and 4 1/2 miles at night. In 18 months I dropped 255 lbs! I was literally less than "1/2 the man I used to be" (Song title.)

Well that's AWESOME!!!

I guess it started with me after my first baby...I'd workout when she napped and just got used to doing it here and running inside. I have a stair machine, exercise ball, Bender Ball, weights, and do several of the P90X DVD's for variety cuz the treadmill can get boring!

I'm running about 2x a week, increasing pace as I go, want to get to 3x a week. I use the CardioTrainer app on my Droid. It also tracks your runs, provides voice feedback if you want, automatically starts music if you want. Also tracks other workouts as well. Works for me to keep moving.

That's pretty cool. Never heard of that.

Part of the reason I do the treadmill is so I can keep track of speed and distance.

running is one of the worst hobbies to get anyway....very hard on the body....like Jake says...hop in the pool, or get a bike.

I know what you mean.

I think many if not most running injuries would be avoided if

1) People did not run through pain.

2) people spent more time getting the right shoes.

i've been running but not consistently. my dogs are always wanting to go faster than me, and i feel like i should get a sled to stand on and have them pull me. they are getting in shape faster than I am.

CardioTrainer downloaded now though, and I'm gonna get more regular with the exercise. rep to catfang for telling me the best app.

It has tons of different workouts (weights, yoga, even hiking, kayaking, even driving (!). It has a treadmill walk or a treadmill run options that use your stride length and number of steps to calculate. I used that for the first time on the treadmill today. It underestimated my stride length but I calibrated it based on what the treadmill told me so next time I should be good to go.
