Pro-Bowl voting has begun

Im not voting. This team dose not deserve a Pro bowl.

I will say that Kalil probably should go to the Pro Bowl again. He is a beast center.

That said I'm not voting for him and I hope everyone else gets the reason why. It isn't because I don't like him or think he doesn't deserve it, but it is to the team's direct advantage if no one makes it.

Sorry to be reiterating the same thing over and over, but people need to understand it.

tbh, I'm going to vote for the players I think are deserving, regardless of what power it gives them in negotiations. I think the guys deserve it, and while I hope it doesn't hurt the team, maybe some of them do deserve to be payed like probowlers if they get voted in, considering that it's not just our votes on this forum going in there... but a whole vast sum of 'em unrelated to us.

edit: btw, there's only 2-4 right now I'd vote for, and I'm not voting yet, so.

Or as part of our ongoing mutiny, we could repeatedly vote for every Panther on the Pro Bowl ballot in order to push their contracts to the max with escalators and FORCE JR to spend the money he didn't this offseason! HA!

Or is our mutiny on hold now that we won a game?

Stuff

Fan voting only counts as 1/3 of the voting for the Pro Bowl, so that logic can prove futile.

Second, If we as a collective whole shout to everyone to not vote for our own players to make the Pro Bowl, then that sends a message to prospective players (free agents, rookies, or even our own players that we try to resign) that Pro Bowl incentives put into a contract are worthless, so they will want more of the money upfront.

Oh and guess what? If we ever do decide to follow fan logic and try to trade someone like Deangelo Williams, we won't be able to market him as a Pro Bowler and get less in return.

1/3 is pretty significant...too significant, imo, esp. since fans can vote as many times as they want. the most overhyped teams with the most bandwagon fans get their guys in.

i'm all for incentive laden contracts as long as it's based on performance, not on a meaningless and fan driven "honor" like the pro-bowl game. incentives for becoming all-pro....that i can get on board with.

who said we should ever follow fan logic? pro-bwl doesn't mean as much as it used to except in salary negotiations. even then, i wonder how much it will matter going forward. every year there are more and more opting out of it. also, with two teams being taken out of consideration because of being in the superbowl (is that happening again this year?) that also takes away from the "honor". in other words, the effect one's being a probowler has very little impact on trade value and will most likely have even less value going forward.
