Pulling Moore

How many of our teams under Fox's tenure had the talent to get to the playoffs and contend for a superbowl? Isnt it reasonable to say that ever since we went to the playoffs in 03 under Fox that every single team we've had since then was a big threat to be dealt with at 100% health going into the preseason?

The man's done well here with what he's had to work with. I just think Fox has earned his right to make some bad calls through all the good ones he's made. I think its worth it to let him to make some gut calls since he's had a pretty decent track record.

You can look at stats all day and you can talk X's and O's but one of the most important primary skills for a coach to have is feel for his players. Fox FELT that Moore was fuggin up and needed to sit. . he did. He had a concussion and developed quite an nasty reaction to being in the pocket for more than half a second after he got blasted 50 times to the noggin.

How long does it take for a QB to get bawls back? Well, we found out today that it can be less than 5 weeks for some guys.

Props to Moore and props to Fox for ALLOWING him to succeed today. If he hadnt pulled him when he did, today Moore might've still look like Delsnaps last season.

Good Post nice insight.

Even Matt admitted it was the right move. It help him get back 2 the Matt from last year.

I concur. Even I admit I was skeptical before the game, but it all work out in the end. Hopefully Clausen can learn from that too & get better once we play again after the lockout is over. Unless the lockout does happend or not.

The pulling of Moore was inevitable this year. He would have had to play near perfect games not to get pulled with so many, fans and media alike, wanting to see Jimmy play, including myself. But my gut feeling tells me Fox didn't have as much to do with that first decision as you think.

The only reason I'm ok with it was because if he had not gotten pulled, then you would have had a bunch of people screaming and yelling to bench him and play Jimmy. Now that THAT'S over and done with, Matt will be allowed to make mistakes, and have a bad day just like every other QB without him feeling the axe grizzling the back of his neck every Sunday.

But I still can't help feeling we would be sitting at 3-3 or at least 2-4 if he had played all 6 games. A QB doesn't need extra motivation after a game like his first game. Pulled or not, he would have never wanted to have a game like that ever again.

The problem wasnt just at QB, my friend, and it still isnt. Our O-line is not getting it done and thats the foundation of our game. I think the 0 n 5 was every bit what we deserved if you go and look at how the we played as a team.

You can talk about playcalling, but really I think that that hasnt been the main issue either. The key to any fight is to either be unpredictable at exploiting your opponents weaknesses or to be so good at something that nobody can stop you. That is, of course, if you can execute the plan in the first place. In which case if you cant. . . you go 0 n 5 . . . and then you chew gum. Im not excusing Davidson for the playcalling but damn man, we couldnt even snap the ball without fuggin up in the first 5 games.

Anyways, when the line gets fixed, I think this team will instantly preform up to the reasonable expectations we had in the preseason. I hope it gets fixed this season.

Another problem is he keeps doing this poo when it doesn't matter. I wish he could do this early when we had a chance for the playoffs.

Funny that you say it doesn't matter. Trust me, it mattered to him. It mattered to the team. It mattered to Fox. It mattered to the FO. And I can't speak for everyone but it mattered for me, and I'm sure I'm not alone in this one.

In fact Matt's career was on the line today. More than ever. On a personal level I can't even imagine how much pressure he faced to go out there and perform good today.

But you go on refusing to give him credit. And you act like the first 2 games is what cost us the playoffs. Didn't help but we were still in the race at 0-2. Someone else had just as much or more to do with that than just Matt.

No I'm talking about Playoffs winning the division. You can be happy with 4-5 wins. I wanted more and if he'd play this way early we would be in the thick of the playoff race.

Their was a ? that every expert ask at the start of the season. Could Matt play well when it matter. Could he take a team 2 the playoffs. You can act like this is a not a knock on Matt but it is. When it matters and the pressure is on Matt doesn't play well. When it doesn't matter (were not going 2 the playoffs and he can make mistakes without being bench) he lights it up.

So you found some other stupid ass mantra that's only backed by circumstances and NOT facts.

Matt Moore was probably under more pressure to play well today, than he has been in his entire career. Even though we are far from a playoff race, his CAREER was on the line.

Just shut up dude.

too early to label him as such I think but certainly the picture has been painted that way so far. This year will be incredibly difficult for him to prove otherwise though.

Circumstances that he had nothing to do with. The guy can't control the fact that he got his main shot last year after the season was over. He also couldn't control the fact that he came back in this year so late.

The haters are ready to label him again simply based on CIRCUMSTANCES.
