Chargers struggles...

I am fully aware of how long Cam was in SD, that said, Rivers did not take that "next step" until Norv was in the picture. Cam is good, but he is certainly no Norv. Please don't try to argue that Cam is as good as Norv and Sean Payton. Brees was under Cam as well, and was a good pro, but it wasn't until he got to NO that he became a "great" QB. It's the same with Rivers. And please don't bring up record and compare that with QB play, it's not the same.

Point number 2. Yes AJ Smith has an ego, I can't imagine an NFL GM that doesn't have one. That said, please explain to me exactly how "his" ego got in the way with all of those players....care to throw in Cromartie???

P.S. The answer is, it wasn't ego, it was 4 different things that have put them where they are with these players.

Talent, Money, Orders from the top, and Off field trouble.

I know that you don't want to eat your words, so please explain to me how you would have handled each case.

And you also forgot to say that you were wrong about AJ's ego and giving it another run in 2007 with coaches that were not there any longer.

Alright so circle back to the start of this thread. Charger struggles. You think Norv isn't the problem in San Diego. Fine.

But your adamant Phillip Rivers didn't take the "next step" until he was under Norv's tutelage. Great, Rivers is now the best QB ever. But the Chargers are a worse team than the year before Turner took over. They started 4-8 last year, 4-8 with that roster and the talent on it. If the Broncos hadn't had one of the most monumental choke jobs of all time the Chargers would have been eliminated from playoff competiton by week 12. You remember, the Broncos started 6-0 last year. This year it was a 2-5 start. Oh yeah injuries and stuff, or AJ Smith playing hardball again with the likes of Marcus Mcneil and Vincent Jackson. Those guys should have been payed. McNeil finally came in and the Bolts signed him long term. What the hell did that accomplish besides leaving your Pro Bowl Left tackle sitting at home while your team loses?

OK, you don't want to talk wins and losses as related to QB play. Fine, take Drew Brees who only became a "great" QB once he was under Peyton's guidance.

Let's look at the numbers then:

QB rating his last 2 years in San Diego, 104. and 89.2.

In 5 years in new Orleans under that master mind Peyton its been 86.2. 89.4, 96.2. 109.6, 92.6. See how you're completely wrong again? And to me, wins and losses from a starting QB do matter. Brees was 3 games over .500 his first 3 years in New Orleans.

The 2007 year thing you can't seem to get over. Again I'll say, too bad AJ Smith didn't let the trifecta of Schottenheimer/Cameron/Wade have one more go in 2007. Or does the fact Norv wasn't fired until feb 2007 have you confused?

The Chargers are, and continue to be, a poorly prepared, slow starting, mistake prone, under achieving bunch which will continue to do so as long as Norv Turner holds the Head Coaching position in San Diego.

And one moire time:

Your opinion, which happens to be wrong. :hand:

My opinion is that Norv is not the only reason that the Chargers are struggling, and that the players have to take on some of the blame. How in the world is that a wrong opinion?

You have proven that you know nothing about the inner workings of the Chargers. You continue to spout about making a run with Wade, Cam, and Marty in 2007, when 2 of the 3 were hired away from the team following the 2006 season. Where does the AJ hate come in on that situation?

And are you really trying to tell me that Brees played the QB position better in SD than in NO?

And back to AJ and Merriman, LT, Cro, McNeill, and Jackson. Please tell me how you would have handled each case, and why AJ was wrong on each one. You have not done so yet.
