Joe Person: “It might not be at 8, but my sense is the #Panthers will find another pass catcher for (Bryce) Young fairly early in the draft”

End of round 2 start of round 3 is the sweet spot for WR value to me take either Higgins,Noel,Royals or Felton. I wouldn't rule out FA either

In that range, I’d prefer Jayden Higgins or Kyle Williams. Two different types of WRs. Select Williams to replace AT if we feel good about XL/Coker. Select Higgins if we’re still unsure about XL/Coker.

The more I see, the more I want this guy!

10 years from now, they are going to be talking about him being the guy of this draft, the undisputed best pick. Just like they did 10 years after Luke was picked. You remember, we picked who? A linebacker at number 9? Who throws away a pick on a linebacker that high? He's not even a pass rusher???

If Dan Morgan has the opportunity and doesn't take Warren with our pick, he's a fool. All the other positional players still available at our current pick  (and even some who will be taken before, like QB) are one of a group of folks among the best, part of a cluster, some slightly better than the rest. At TE you have Tyler, very much way out in front for his position group AND way out in front among all the players in the draft. There are no medical dings, no personality dings, no intelligence dings, no coaching dings, no legal dings.

Grab the guy and move on. The hard, difficult choices follow in the second and later rounds, save the homework for those picks.

Warren would not be a bad pick. But I have a feeling one of the top guys falls and the Panthers will have a chance to trade down. Imagine if Sanders falls to 8, and a team like the Steelers offer a big time package to trade up to get him. Would be hard to turn down.

While I think defense is our most pressing need, I wouldn't jump out of window if Morgan decided to get Bryce a stud TE with that first pick. A reliable/steady TE is a benefit to any offense, especially one with a a young QB.

Look at how our team performed after Bryce started to put things together after his benching. Imagine if had a Wesley Walls or a Greg Olsen at TE on last year's squad. Carolina would've been knocking on the door of the playoffs in 2024... despite having arguably the worst defense in the NFL and the worst  defense in Panther history.

I would imagine that an organization like the Steelers would want to stay far away from a circus like Sanders would likely bring to town. I could see them taking a shot on Jaxson Dart though.

I swear this has nothing to do with me obviously wanting T-Mac, but I'm a HARD pass on a WR in the 2nd, literally solely based on our inability to hit on those picks over the years, we're really really bad at it and just seems like we throw those picks away.

You and I (and probably half of this forum) have good reason to be concerned about taking a WR with our 2nd round draft choice. Check out our draft history with WR's in round 2. 😟

1996 Mushin Muhammad

2004 Keary Colbert

2007 Dwayne Jarret

2015 Devin Funchess

2017 Curtis Samuel

2021 Terrace Marshall, Jr.

2023 Johnathan Mingo

Moose was a great WR. Samuel has been a serviceable WR in the NFL and definitely better than anyone drafted in the 2000's. But, he has never been...or never will be...a #1 receiving option. To make matters worse, two of his best seasons in the NFL occurred when he left Carolina after the 2020 season.

The other guys should have never been drafted as high as the were by Carolina. Maybe not even drafted at all. They may have been more productive WR's with better coaching or on other teams. History shows they are just footnotes in Panther lore.

I could see the saints taking Sanders at #9.

Which could make #8 a trade target for a team like Indy , if they have any interest.

He's the biggest wild card in the draft by far. I suspect evaluations swing wildly because his physical talent is pretty marginal and you have to watch him play on the college field and ask yourself "does this translate to the NFL?" If I'm being honest, I don't see it. I see the classic "really good college player who doesn't translate to the NFL". I basically see a poor man's Johnny Manziel. He is better than Manziel was when he's on schedule but just like Manziel a lot of his game relied on running around, buying time, and relying on his all-world talent at WR to bail him out and does that translate to the NFL with his physical skill set? I don't think it does. Everyone is looking for the next Mahomes but so far Mahomes is pretty much a unicorn on making that approach work in the NFL. I guess I'll give you Russell Wilson in his prime too but those guys both have (had) elite arm talent that Sanders simply doesn't have.

Then you have the daddy factor massive wild card. Deion definitely has all the potential to turn into the NFL version of Lavar Ball and that has to be factored in, so you better LOVE the prospect and I'm just not seeing it.
