Joe Person: “It might not be at 8, but my sense is the #Panthers will find another pass catcher for (Bryce) Young fairly early in the draft”

He's the biggest wild card in the draft by far. I suspect evaluations swing wildly because his physical talent is pretty marginal and you have to watch him play on the college field and ask yourself "does this translate to the NFL?" If I'm being honest, I don't see it. I see the classic "really good college player who doesn't translate to the NFL". I basically see a poor man's Johnny Manziel. He is better than Manziel was when he's on schedule but just like Manziel a lot of his game relied on running around, buying time, and relying on his all-world talent at WR to bail him out and does that translate to the NFL with his physical skill set? I don't think it does. Everyone is looking for the next Mahomes but so far Mahomes is pretty much a unicorn on making that approach work in the NFL. I guess I'll give you Russell Wilson in his prime too but those guys both have (had) elite arm talent that Sanders simply doesn't have.

Then you have the daddy factor massive wild card. Deion definitely has all the potential to turn into the NFL version of Lavar Ball and that has to be factored in, so you better LOVE the prospect and I'm just not seeing it.

I agree. Never been huge fan. But I could see Saints, Colts and Steelers as potential spots. He could sit behind a Vet for a year and learn (assuming Rodger’s signs with the Steelers)

all that assuming someone doesn’t get crazy and draft him early.

seems like QB fetches a premium spot in drafts and there will be a run on them at some point.  His positional value/talent is late first or somewhere in the second, but he'll go higher than that most likely.

Yeah I think someone will definitely take an early gamble.

But realistically, there’s only about 4/5 teams that should be interested.

I think his last chance at being drafted in the 1st is probably the Rams?!

I would imagine that an organization like the Steelers would want to stay far away from a circus like Sanders would likely bring to town. I could see them taking a shot on Jaxson Dart though.

It's tough to say what team it will be and for what player, but there will likely be players other teams will want to trade up to #8 to get. Is that Sanders or some other player? Who knows. As much as I want the Panthers to add a potential blue chip player at #8, the roster is still very depleted and additional draft capital could be more valuable. Imagine dropping down to 21 in the first and getting another first next year as well. Can't say no to that.

I don't think we're going to get that type of offer. I'd also be leery of moving THAT far back. If we're moving back I'd still want to stay in the top 15 or so. We earned the #8 pick because we were trash. A few meaningless late season wins aside we honestly should've been drafting significantly higher where we would have significantly better options hence why I didn't want those wins.

i just can't imagine how anyone could honestly look at this current roster & think we do not need to draft an offensive weapon who can catch the ball at #8 ...just saying

I'm not opposed to Warren or Tet. But the argument to your post is we gave up the most points in NFL history last year. A defensive pick would certainly be warranted.

True and sad. Smitty and DJ Moore have been the only drafted panthers that have been good. KB 1 good year then became a nut case. Has a team ever been this bad at developing WRs?

The disrespect to Moose

I finally heard a good comp for sanders, Panthers own red rifle Andy Dalton. It makes sense, each do not have the elite traits NFL scouts drool over, either is fast with their feet. Just decent arm and somewhat accurate. Andy was rated as a 2nd rounder and if you took away the sanders hype machine, that's where many team have him too, he's a 2nd rounder. Still only takes one.

I still can't forget all the poo some people talked about DJ Moore for years. Dude put up 1000 yard seasons with bum QB's. Now here we are just hoping and praying one of these young draft picks can even begin to fill his shoes. The guy who so many people said was only a #2. You reap what you sow.

Bingo!!

That's the reason for me championing TMac along with his agent tuk21.....

This team has NO ONE that teams are scared of on offense, NO ONE.

It's even hard to for the defense, dbrown sure * but how will he respond to ACL surgery....that's 330 LBs on that one leg each step and pushing other 330 man-beast. I don't even think Horn scares QBs or WRs.

Just no talent....
