This is getting f*cking ridiculous. He put up a TD in both of the first two games. Then he got hurt. He JUST returned from a high ankle sprain and had an OK game, not a bad one. Even the best receivers have average games every now and then. To say that Steve Smith isn't a #1 WR is just absurd.

San Fran is ranked 15th in pass defense, which is better than the Steelers. Would you be saying the same thing if Gettis caught 8 passes for 128 yards vs the Steelers? San Frans' opponents are averaging about 216 passing yards per game...Moore passed for over 300.

Statistics? Who cares, SF was awful, bad coverage. Yes Gettis and LaFell looked better but I would not characterize it as a great performance. That was my point. I like the guys. And yes those numbers against Pittsburgh would be more impressive.
