Your ideal season end

Fox has never laid down a game or a season. His players have always fought til to the end. I hate to disappoint you guys but don't expect the Panthers to tank the season so that we can overpay for a top 3 pick. There will be a quality WR or DT available in the 10-15 pick range. Let's aim for that instead of complete failure.

I don't think the Panthers have to 'tank' the season, or Fox 'lay down', they don't have the talent to do better offensively, not with this coaching staff.

I say :beatdeadhorse5:

If we can finish 7-9, Fox needs to stay. Panthers wouldnt be same wthout fox. He should be handed at least one mmore year, considering this was our rebuilding year. Offensive coordinator should be gone, never like him. They stick with 1 qb the rest of the year, lafell and gettis emerge as the next two big targets, and armanti establishes himself in the slot.

that is all

I would have to question anyone's fanaticism if they DONT choose go on a run and make playoffs. Nothing is better than watching meaningful football in Nov and Dec.

Staying in the middle tends to get you good players, but not necessarily star players.

One would think, but: Beason, Stewart, Davis, and D-Will are our last four original first round picks that were not in the top 10. It is disputable if any are "stars", but under Fox we have more than excelled in the first round, but only so-so 2-7.

I find it intriguing that some people were blasting the team in the off season because in their minds JR and co had sacrificed this season by not spending on big time FAs & trades - completely disregarding that it will put us in a good position a few years down the line. However, it seems acceptable to intentionally tank the rest of the season just to get a #1 pick to these same people.

Both are to aim for future fortunes, so why the double standards. The only difference is that in their way, there was a chance that they could still win. Hoping the team loses to get a #1 pick is actually worse than what the FO did.

There's absolutely no way to know if our first round pick, even if it was first overall, would be "instrumental in winning several rings." In fact, with a pick that high there's a greater chance that the guy will fall below expectations than actually deliver what we'd expect. A top 3 pick is not worth the toll it would take on this team to go 2-14. We got Beason and Williams in the middle of the first round, we don't need to put the franchise back a year to get the first overall pick.

A- is out of the Question

They would have to win at least 9 games to get close to a playoff

At this point ever phase of the offense would have to be re-tooled

B-Respectable

They may be able to pull out 5-6 wins but that's not all that respectable:eek:

C- Tank

This is the one they would not have to work as hard at :D

They have this one in the bag

I want us to win as many games as possible. The draft is a crap shoot and who knows about a rookie cap or other issues. Do we really want to pay a rookie 70 million up front when that means we might not sign a Williams or Davis or resign a Beason for an unproven guy. How many teams over the last few years tried to dump their top 5 pick and couldn't do it because no one wanted it? Why do we want to be in that same boat??

As for wins and losses, in the past good ending runs have propelled us to better things in the future like in 2004. Tanking will just hurt the team and the young player's confidence and potentially give us little in return.

Where have we been the best? Drafting 6 round guys like Hardy and Gettis or early rounders like Brown and Jarrett??? Our second rounders (cost a first rounder) have performed worse than our six rounders over the past year or two. Seems to me that high draft picks have meant little to us over the past year or two not something to desire or cherish.
