Your ideal season end

i want whatever puts this team in a better position to win games down the road if we can't make the playoffs.

doesn't necessarily mean tanking games. they way they've been playing so far they won't have to tank it. a top 3 draft pick will more than likely come all on it's own. 4 picks will get us a top 5 or 6 pick. i really can't see us getting more than 4 wins at this point.

one scenario i could see is getting all the wins at the end of the year and leaving on a high note of course that worked wonders for us this year.

another scenario is us winning a few games during the middle of the season and then petering off at the end and the players just being ready for a change from the coaching staff. if they get things going at the end, they might be inclined to hope fox stays around. either way, it only matters that he be gone next year.

if we can get the rookie cap and CBA done then the top 5 pick will be a whole lot more attractive.

the announcement that fox won't be returning should be right after the season ends and the official search should happen right away. i could see us missing out on some good coaches by the FO opting to sit back and look at everything. whatever they do needs to start happening right after the panther season ends.

oh, the ideal is that we discover that we have a couple all pro quality WRs that aren't named smith and an elite QB and we go out, win out, and get a ring despite fox & companies lack of coaching ability and then hire jim harbaugh as HC.

having an early pick won't matter if your team is already solid and championship ready.

...I can't imagine our leaders allowing it to happen...

PC, for some reason when I read this, everything else went out of focus and this became magnified.

I would not have imagined that our leaders would allow a lot of things, but you see what's happening. It's not imagination.

Fox has never laid down a game or a season. His players have always fought til to the end. I hate to disappoint you guys but don't expect the Panthers to tank the season so that we can overpay for a top 3 pick. There will be a quality WR or DT available in the 10-15 pick range. Let's aim for that instead of complete failure.

if sacrificing this year meant you could land someone who could be instrumental in winning several rings, would you do it?

i'm not saying that there is someone but i am asking would you do it if there were?

Anybody in there right mind would. The problem is finding the guy who would win all those rings

Wow, this is why we have one of the most pathetic fan bases in the league. You guys are hoping for losses? Sure, we don't really have a chance to make the play-offs, but us going 2-14 or 1-15 would entail our players looking like absolute sh*t and not developing for the rest of the season. That's one hell of a steep price to pay for a high first round pick that could easily be a bust. The best thing for this team would be for them to start improving, scraping together some wins and developing in the positions where we need it most (WR, QB, D-Line).

I would much rather see a new coach come in to a 6-10 or 7-9 team with a first round pick in the teens and a roster full of guys on the cusp of being great than a 2-14 team in complete rebuild mode with the first overall pick.

............

Chickensh*ts.

yeah dumb fans.

Not me and you though

The run to the playoffs, but including an NFC championship win, all the way to D-Will and J-Stew doing their Double Trouble dance (err, gyrations) around the Lombardi Trophy as Smitty holds it out in front of him with arms extended, with John Fox in the background clapping and chewing gum.

The one bad part about the specter of being the worst team in football. Essentially we're giving the New England f**king Patriots a 1st round pick for Armanti Edwards.

Fug Hurney.

QFT

For a player that won't see the field. To me, if a team is going to trade up to get someone, the expectation should be they will be playing.
