they are a beautiful breed, and if i weren't so set on rescuing animals i'd porbably have two of them, or boxers. i think that having 2 is always good if the animal has energy.

my oldest is a pit/hound mix, and the other is about a year younger. he is mostly vizsla. overall the oldest has been a better dog since we got him a friend. we even took him with us when picking out the companion.

Great that you are interested in rescue. Rep for you.

By the way, I always think dogs need dog friends.

we had one a while back. got her as a pup. i loved the hell outta that dog. sadly, my wife has some issue w letting a dog be part of the family and anytime the dog was in the house she was so uptight, yelling and screaming at the poor thing if she acted just a little hyper.

i loved playing w olivia(the weim) outside. she would fetch a ball till my arm couldnt throw it anymore. very protective of our yard as well. i had a 10x10 fence kennel for her during the day and a 60' runner for when we were home. i had no problem with her in the house, she practically housebroke herself.

but, the combination of us not having a fenced yard, and my wifes inability to bond w the dog forced me to give her to someone with more time and room for such a breed. she is now a very happy dog w her chocolate lab friend and a lady that lets them rule the house. suprisingly she has calmed down very much. i tried to tell my wife she just wanted to be part of the family and patience would pay off, but oh well.

yeah, im still pretty pissed off about the whole deal. but at least the dog is happy.

We had a weim back when I was a kid. It wasn't the brightest dog, but it was a loving dog and a great friend. Sadly, it ran into the street and lost its life. We've considered getting one, but have decided to go with a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog.

Anyone familiar with that breed? We've heard nothing but good things about them, especially as a family dog.
