I know a lot about the breed what do you wish to know? I always tell people who want weims to get two. This breed benefits more than any other by having a companion. They are not a naturally dominant breed and they can get real bad anxiety being left alone. They attach themselves very closely to their owners. The best way to solve/cope all these problems this is to get two. In my opinion it is a MUST when owning weims. I have seen some that do pretty well on their own, but all the pairs are just happier dogs. They are loving dogs but almost too loving and need a constant companion. I work at a boarding/day care facility for two years I see all kinds of breeds and lots of them. I have seen dozens of Weims and Wiem pairs and the pairs are always more calm, happier and almost as if it is natural. I strongly urge you to thinking about two if you want to go with this breed that would be my number 1 advice.

You could get another dog (not a weim) too but another wiem just seems right since they will usually become best friends right away and will cling to one another. Other than that they are great dogs, each one has a strong, bold personality. Very easily exited and made happy. And as said do so much better in pairs. If you can get litter mates, your set. Also be sure to get them around the same age. They should live and die together IMO. Also go for the lighter wiems not the darker or 'blue', they have much better temperament.

My old neighbor had one. Great dog. But you need lots of yard, as they love to run! I had an Old English Sheep dog at the time. They would run each other to death along the fence. I never heard his dog bark. I would go back and pet him, and he was huge! I'm like 6'-2" and he could put his paws on my shoulder. He was so funny, running along the fence with his tongue sticking out! My dog would jump the fence, his dog could have just about walked over it and never did.

I have a weim he is almost 13 years old and his health is going downhill... :(

I love my weim more then 90% of my family. I have been lucky enough to have someone always with him because he demands so much attention and every time I get a new girlfriend he ditches me for her never fails he loves the ladies. Puppies are very aggressive my dog nearly killed me when he was 8 months old I was cutting the grass when he decided it would be cool to jump on my back and knock me down he was around 80lbs and his max idea weight is a 100 but do to his age and legs he weighs around 110.

The vet says he could live another year maybe 2 if I'm lucky. ....as long as his legs dont go out if they do then I have to put him down.

they are a beautiful breed, and if i weren't so set on rescuing animals i'd porbably have two of them, or boxers. i think that having 2 is always good if the animal has energy.

my oldest is a pit/hound mix, and the other is about a year younger. he is mostly vizsla. overall the oldest has been a better dog since we got him a friend. we even took him with us when picking out the companion.
