What do you think of this book idea?

The main thing is the internal battle going on with the reporter. Doesn't believe in reincarnation, yet the more he investigates, the eerier it gets. Then someone else is onto the story, someone sinister, and the reporter has to think on his feet. That would be the catch for the reader...what would I do if I was the reporter?

How does the reporter go about first noticing these parallels? If the reporter is your main character, he needs a couple goals -- and I don't mean just to point out these similarities and to save reincarnated Kennedy from this secret society. He needs an intrinsic goal. There needs to be a subplot. If the reporter's the main character, he's got to be pretty damned interesting, and he better have a big goal with some big hurdles in his way.

This is why I don't think the reporter works as the main character. Nobody cares about the reporter's internal battle. You lose so much tension by focusing on him. His character may be necessary, but I think the film would work better if the RINO was the main character, with the reporter (or a similar character) trying to enlighten him. These characters are there for the information -- I don't think the audience (or reader) is as interested in them as they are the main character.

Ever think this idea might work as a comedy? What if the second shooter had died and was reincarnated as well?

Woodword & Bernstein in "All the President's Men", did pretty well and they were reporters. Of course they are real.
