PSL Question

You have to remember that in the beginning ,no PSL = no NFL foodball in Charlotte..if you purchased lewer level PSL's in the beginning you can sell them now and get get back what you invested.

That is correct. I have probably made/cleared over $13,000 by buying-selling-upgrading PSL's over the years.

Although we don't have to worry about it this year, if the team looks as though they will be in a playoff hunt in November the ticket office will mail out vouchers....you must purchase these as well (playoff tickets) or risk losing your seats.

Oh yeah, I forgot all about that. Come November if the NFL feels there is a mathematical chance the team will reach the post season we get a bill in the mail- just in time for Christmas- that is due immediately for the playoff tickets.

Here's the best part- if the team doesn't make the post season, the team holds onto your money for the next 7 months and credits the amount towards next season's tickets the following April-May. In the meantime, what has the team been doing with our money? Why, making more, of course.

Quick PSL story... the guy who sits next to us got picked in the Super Bowl ticket lottery following the 2003 season. He shows up at the Panther ticket office on the specified day with cash ('cause I think they only accepted cash or cashier's check) and gets his tickets (they were about $800 each). He and his brother drive to Houston a couple days before the game and sell both tickets for $3500 in one day and drive back home. 3 days/2 nights and still got home in plenty of time to watch the game.

..... there has never been a game we've attended were there weren't tickets available somewhere around the stadium. Who cares if we don't sit in the same place every week?

It easy to say this now and other years but the above is not always the case. I have scalped for many years, first before I owned PSL's and even after I bought two, I scalp now for extra's so the whole family can go to the games. Bottom line is you are right there is always tickets available and years like this one scalping is super easy, getting in cheap is no problem and moving around is super easy so where you ticket is basically doesnt matter. That being said in the years the team is good, is not that easy or cheap to get in. Plus for me when the team is good, I would rather not bother and prefer to know I have a seat and a good one. BUT the biggest benefit of owning the psl is getting playoff tickets when the team has a home game.

There have been many times when owning the PSLs have been a tremendous experience, when the team is competitive. This, of course, isn't one of those years and the downward slide was very predictable from 2-3 years ago.

As for me, and the people who sit around share the same view, JR had best bring somebody in who inspires some excitement and hope and if he doesn't, he will have a lot of PSLs go sell. Sadly I will turn mine back in. It is a lot of money and time to see a pro team that offensively has zero chance and zero hope.

For the first time, I've seen these same loyal PSL holders, who have never missed a game, leaving at halftime.

In some ways, it may not be a bad thing if there is a strike next year as I think the players, coaches, and ownership have forgotten that without people buying tickets, watching TV, buying jerseys and giving a damn, there is no NFL.

Since the Super Bowl run the Panthers have had exactly one home playoff game, the beat down by the Cardinals in '08. So I'm not sure that's the best arguement. :(

What are the consequences of not paying for your season tickets when you have a PSL?

Do you lose your PSL altogether, or do they simply offer your tickets to the public for sale?

You forfeit your PSL rights and the team will go resell them for their current price, which is probably way more than you paid for them.

Hell Jerry Richardson must love a season like this. PSL owners don't reup and he just resells the PSL to someone who will buy it.

Yeppers - I say that anybody who wants to stick it to Jerry just donate the PSL to someone - or sell them super-cheap. I'd not let JR get even more money on reselling the PSLs.
