I'd prefer Peterson/Green to Luck.

This could easily change by the end of the season, however. I, along with everyone in Panther Nation, would like to know what we have in Clausen for certain.

for me it has more to do with just how rarely (hopefully) we have opportunities to draft this early and i would rather use that pick for someone we can build around. if clausen doesn't work out and luck proves to be a great QB then we are going to be kicking ourselves for years to come.

i would like to see more of clausen than moore this year just to get a better idea of what clausen can do, fwiw. best case scenario he turns out to be great when he gets another shot this year and we don't need to draft luck. i'm just not expecting that to happen at the moment.

a lot of it has to do also with who we have as a HC next year. if he doesn't like clausen or doesn't think that clausen will fit what he wants to do then i have no problem with him getting who he wants.

I'd have to disagree. USC has had more talent than any team in the country the last few years, on both sides of the ball. They don't get the recognition because most of the country is asleep when they are playing. I think you have to consider the fact that the SEC doesn't play everyone in their conference each year and that makes for a nice road to the title game. When Florida goes undefeated and doesn't play either of the top 2 other teams in the conference it's pretty weak, then in the title game they get owned by Bama.

This year in the Pac you only find one pushover and thats WSU, every other team is capable of winning on any given Saturday. Hell, one of the worst teams in the conference, UCLA, smashed on Texas but because of preseason hype Texas was somehow #7 in the country?

For a while it seemed every player on USC's team was going to be in the pros. They had 3 linebackers from one team starting in the NFL. You don't see that type of talent everywhere. Oregon State, yes little old Oregon State has quite a few guys in the NFL from recent years, on both sides of the ball.

People give the SEC too much credit. I think most years they are the best conference but the PAC10 is not far behind and they are certainly more talented than the Big 10 and 12. Top to bottom this year I think the PAC10 matches up well with the SEC but they don't get the hype.

They produce some of the best QBs in the country and at least 4 QBs currently in the conference will be playing in the NFL soon.

yup, with all this talk about regime changes and bringing in your own franchise QB, it would not surprise me in the least if they turned around and drafted their own QB to groom. It's happened before. wouldn't be surprised to see it happen again.

if we could get the next peyton manning, would you not want to get him? not saying he is but there is probably no greater need right now for the team than QB. why would you not want to get the best one available? clausen could be good and even great but i think luck could be better.

I'd rather get a beast of an DL now, and then get the next Ben Rothlisberger/ Joe Flaco in a year or two.

i agree that we need to build the trenches but i would just rather get the interior of the Dline form other teams. esp. this coming year. it isn't a good year for DTs at all. the best talent is going to be from FA or via trades.

I mean you can look at the worst SEC team, Vandy, and every year they have 1 or 2 players that are drafted or make an NFL roster. The athletes that populate the SEC landscape are head and shoulders above most conferences in college football. When you have Georgia, Alabama, Flordia, Auburn, and LSU, each of thoes programs will have at least 4 or 5 players taken in the draft every year. Now some of thoes players are dumb as rocks and will never do anything there but that does not mean the talent is not there. The pure size and speed of the players in the SEC are the closest thing you have to the NFL in college football. You will not see alot of other big conferences schedule any SEC team in there non conference games because they know that their players are not use to seeing 6'4" guys that weight 295lbs and can run a 4.7 fourty. SEC players are use to seeing thoes kind of athletes. That why so many of them are drafted by NFL teams.

In most years I believe this. But this year the PAC ranks up there with the SEC and is better than the overrated Big 12. The only good teams in the Big 12 are OU and Nebraska. In the PAC you have Oregon, Stanford, Arizona, and a good Oregon State team that was victimized by a brutal schedule. USC isn't half bad either, they have been going through some poo though in the last two years and are inconsistant this year. Like someone said earlier, no one really gives the PAC that much credit and I really don't have any idea why.
