Sorry man, but YOU shat the bed a bit by ASSuming the electrician didn't have his P&Qs together either.

Overall, the buck stops with him, and any "underperformance" (not exactly what happened) on your part is his failure to get from you what he needs in a timely fashion.....still, I think you passively exacerbated the trend because the guy is a twerp and you flat out don't like him.

I go by my old man's addage of "kiss their ass until you kiss 'em goodbye".

Make amends, not apologize but make it clear that you see WHERE your contribute to the F up lies, promise to do better, and take his effin job when the corksucker leaves in a year.

I like all these ideas....I just found out yesterday I was passed up for two different promotions, both to people less qualified than I am, but both are engineers...qualifications not needed or requested for either role.

Sounds like a real winner there... His intent was to set you up or he wouldn't have approached it like he did... you can either quit or deal with him the best you can.

Is there any one, like his boss or HR, that you can complain to about the situation?

I would stay out of his way and don't screw up. If that's all the ammo he has against you, I wouldn't sweat it too much. If I was in your situation, I would just dig in. I would also be prepared for the chance that he might (and maybe it's just my paranoia but I have seen this in other departments) try to hire someone just as if not more qualified than you or start to groom his desired replacement.

Either way, making friends with some corporate overlings couldn't hurt. Off the job stuff like golf, racquetball or strip clubs...

Spunking in coffee is a waste of spunk and you can get caught. Just give the cup a rimmer. He can't tell, you feel better, everyone wins. People used to do this to my old Sonar Chief all the time.

Paint a face on your hand, walk into his office and tell him someone wants to apologize. Then make "Mr. Hand" apologize to him in a funny voice.

You'll still get fired, but you'll have that story to tell for the rest of your life.
