So do we come out running or throwing on Sunday

With Moore in there, Smitty back, and some new receivers to throw to, does Davidson open up the playbook again and throw more this week??

San Francisco is ranked 10th overall, 11th against the pass and 19th against the run. So you would think logically we would run. But with the difficulties we have running the ball especially early, do we come out throwing to set up the run?

We had 2 weeks to install something that works.

Lets talk about Sunday instead of rehashing old topics.

I think he comes out throwing....throwing to set up the run. We are gonna be forced to do that until we start to hurt some teams.

I think that old play Davidson liked to run w/ Moose that went nowhere will be there......a streaking Gettis imo is gonna beat that corner w/ no S help. Moore missed it once.....I bet he hits it the next time.

That implies there's a playbook to be opened up.

In all seriousness, i say we go with short, high percentage throws to increase Moore's confidence. Work on establishing the run, then take some shots downfield. In all likelihood, this won't happen.

still don't see it working....everything is clogged up. The run game and short pass game b/c of what defenses are doing. Gotta go downfield...until we do we will suck. John Fox's playbook is about running and going downfield. He isn't changing his playbook.

It's funny how I posted thread after thread about throwing early and often to set up the run like the Rams have done with Bradford. With Moore back and experienced receivers it might finally happen.

You're not allowed to take credit for calling for something, and then it having it happen. That's TheRealDeals line of work.

I'm pretty sure that this going back to Moore thing only means one thing: back to Fox football.

But now we have a guy that actually knows how to execute and manage that so it should work better than it has the past couple of weeks.

And like I was saying yesterday, if we are up by some miracle in the 4th quarter then I actually support the Fox football mentality. Alex Smith scored in 53 seconds against the Saints then converted a 2 pointer to tie the game, so we need the run to be in full gear by the end of the game to run out the clock.

We need to run it down their throats and let Matt go for Smith for the big play. Other than that only use the rook receivers to spread the field a bit in non-dagerous situation(2nd and short) and keep their defense honest, but nothing stupid, unless he wants to end up with more pics than touchdowns again. No more hail mary passes to guys who can't catch. That's what Steve is for. And if our running game does prove to work, we NEED to pass some on 1st down.
