1 -Smitty couldn't have played against Chicago if we traded for Peyton Manning for the week.

2 - We don't know the extent of his injury but the pace of his recovery was set before the QB change was announced.

3 - I think it is a safe assumption Smith wants the ball so he may like Moore starting over Clausen. Steve Smith has played w/ Vinny T and David Carr....he isn't going to sit b/c of a crap QB.

So lets see, they reported Smitty out on Monday. Foxy makes the announcement later on that day that Moore will start. Then on Wed, Smitty returns to practice. OMG, I think Smitty's ankle magically healed.

I hope Thomas is #2. While Thomas hasn't put up the biggest numbers, he's at least proved he's a threat in the NFL while Gettis hasn't really done that yet. With him on the other side of Smith they'll have to finally account for our #2 a little bit. This will give guys like Gettis/Clowney some time as the #3. I'm really optimistic that the pickup of Thomas may help us big time in the long run.
