Terrell Owens voted most overrated by his peers

Sports Illustrated surveyed 239 players and asked them to name the most overrated, and Owens finished first. Owens got 14 percent of the vote, far ahead of the rest of the pack.

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo came in second at 7 percent, Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez and Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth tied for third at 5 percent and Giants quarterback Eli Manning came in fifth at 4 percent.

If you click on the link, you'll see that the writer of this article in particular- Michael Smith, disagrees. I have no opinion on the matter, but he has the numbers...However I disagree that he might be underrated

Owens was a very good receive a few years ago. He is still a good one, although he has lost a step. But his ability has usually been overshadowed by his mouth.

I'm surprised Farve isn't up there on that list. TO was having trouble finding a team this year, I don't see how that qualifies as overrated.

Meaningless poll. Look at Owens stats. He's a great WR who has performered. When he was with the 49ers he was a human highlight reel.

I wouldn't say its meaningless. It doesn't mean hes overrated, it just means his peers think so.

He ranks 5th all time in receptions, 5th all time in TD's, and 2nd all time in receptions, behind only Jerry Rice. He is one of the greatest WR's to ever play the game, and he's overrated?

I think they meant he is overrated in that he is not what he once was, yet he's advertised like he's a top 10 WR.

Romo can at least win you some games. Though I agree he's probably the biggest candyass to ever put on an NFL uniform.

Tom Brady has filled that role nicely in my eyes. He's the only guy I've ever seen who can turn around and say something to a ref and get a flag thrown for him. He was whining again last weekend after he was taken down...

Brady tries to be a tough guy, but he's at the head of the line when it comes to QBs being untouchable. If Phil Simms and his comment about QBs wearing skirts were to ever become a reality, Tom Brady would be leading the way.

Oh ok. But why would they say that when almost every team passed on him during free agency? We all know he's old and past his prime, so you can't really be overrated when you're not even rated to begin with.
