Quick Beason question

Peppers was never a leader. He's a quiet guy who does his job.

I don't know if Beason was the Captain, but after Minter retiring, I'd wager he was.

I don't think there will be a drop-off in talent or play if Pep leaves, but if he does I think they might build the team a bit more around the LBs since they have talent at that position.

I believe you can build defensive schemes around a guy like Jon Beason. He's pretty special.

But I guess that's up to our DC. Whoever it may be next year.

Yeah I think Beason was a captain this year, but even if he didn't have the little C on his jersey he was still the leader of the defense.

Besides being the MLB... what hdevonxz said. He was the leader on the field. That doesn't necessarily translate to the leader in the locker room, but it's good if it does. I have the impression (right or wrong) that he's quickly becoming the defensive leader in the locker room. Even as a rookie, he was a dominant personality on the defense. That's a very, very good thing.

When building teams around your LB core you have to have dominate DTs. You see this in Baltimore and Chicago and almost any team that runs a 3-4 defense. I can be risky however as I believe Denver also tried this and failed big time. Not too many teams build their defense around the LBers that run a 4-3 recently but in the past teams have been successful doing it. The only thing I question with the Panthers doing this is can Fox coach a defense that is built around the LBers. When he has been successful both in NY and Carolina it has been with a stud DE bring pressure.

    • I wasn't "comparing" him to Mahomes, per se.  Clearly that's not even an argument.  Bryce was of equal importance and value to his team in that game.    And look, Aidan O'Connell had an absolutely fantastic game against KC.  So sure.  350 yards and 2 TDS is impeccable.    Best game of his career.   Bryce has been top 5 PFF QB last two weeks.    It's a small sample size for sure.  But dude is ballin.   https://x.com/benbbaldwin/status/1863654553821863963 1. Burrow (lol. Poor Joe Burrow) 2. Stafford 3. Allen 4. Richardson 5. Bryce Young!
    • Yeah, people are on here whining about Ladd and Cooper Dejean over the picks we took this year. It is pretty evident, but some things are taboo to talk about anymore.  Legette is playing very well having played this year with two QBs, basically three as Bryce is seemingly a different QB now. Ladd is playing with a vested veteran QB and that is the reason he is producing more. Any moron can see that, but doesn't want to discuss the obvious. As far as Brooks not looking special, this is literally the second game he has played in as a rookie. His first catch he broke tackles and the big run he had he broke tackles, but he doesn't jump off the screen/didn't do anything. Bucky was the best RB yesterday, but won't discuss that our run defense is fooking last in the NFL. I wish sometimes you all would step up and kill these stupid threads before they get 5-7 pages deep! These arguments are so weak and it is just a bunch of hindsight negativity when you can see the team is trending upward.
    • That skank he was with finally leached onto someone else and Bryce got back to focusing on football
