why does everyone hate him so much??? i thought fox was supposed to be the defensive mastermind??? if people are so unhappy with the defense, why does all of the hate go towards trgovac??? not saying i disagree with all of the criticism the defense gets.....just curious why people use only him as a scapegoat

thoughts???

Fox/ Trgovac generally have decent defensive game plans at the start of the game. I tend to credit Fox more b/c he gives the thumbs up on the gameplan.

I think the largest problem is the lack of defensive adjustments, which continues time and time again in oppenents putting up big numbers in the 2nd half.

The blame goes to both, but I personally think Trgovac is more responsible for communicating what needs to be done to his players during half time and the second half. Fox has to oversee the whole game, so I think it is more of a failure on Trgova than Fox.

Fox, being the HC, is ultimately responsible for all aspects so he doesn't escape blame. But simply put, I, like many Panthers fans, think Trgovac has proven over the last couple of years he even doesn't know what the adjustments should be or can't communicate that to his players.

Even way, the Panthers need a change.

I just can't imagine a championship calibur defense that doesn't pressure the QB! We had a great 4 man rush at one point and it was enough, but that changed and our scheme didn't change with it. So who's to blame? The D-line? The D-coord.? or the Head Coach?

Regardless of who takes the blame, the defense needs to become more aggressive.

I'd rather not lose what we have going for us. It's a very amiable franchise, but something needs to change and it may not be the thing we want. Still... change is coming and we need to embrace it.

Somebody's head has got to roll. Fox is way to good of a coach to let him go.

I agree. Fox has been a positive force for us. Our bad seasons have been mostly bad luck (injuries), with the exception of 2006, which was just pathetic. If he were gonna be fired, he should have been fired then. But they trusted him to turn this team around. And after last year's injuries, he did turn it around. 12-4 is not easy in the NFL.

3 playoffs, 2 championships, and a superbowl in 6 years is pretty damn impressive. I see no reason to fire Fox.

What amazes me, is that the offense really lost that last game but nobody is talking about that. You can't expect any defense to overcome 6 turnovers.

Well, Delhomme lost the last game. But it was also bad coaching. I think it was because they were so determined to get him over those first 2 turnovers (the fumble and the pick) that they pushed the passing game. They wanted him to throw a few good passes and help him get over his mistakes. But instead he threw another pick. And from there it snowballed.

They had to abandon the running game and rely on Jake to throw it in his condition, and it resulted in 6 turnovers and embarassment. But if they had stuck with the run when it was a two score game and not worried so much about the QB's feelings, we may have closed the gap. Then who knows where the game would have gone. But it was poorly coached.

We can't place all the blame on Jake. He sucked that day, for sure. But the playcalling was pathetic. I could have called a better game and who the hell am I!
