Asomugha to get franchised AGAIN

Calvin Johnson is sick, but considering that our offense is run-first, doesn't have a good enough QB to maximize two elite WR's and already has the best playmaker in the game at WR, he would be a wasted pick up.

Um, has Jake ever had more than one good target? I'm pretty sure he could throw elsewhere if he had an elsewhere to toss it to...just sayin.....

Jake zeroes in and forces to Smith cuz he HAS to...he never has been good at the throw it away thing. Admittedly, that IS Jake's fault, OR the QB coaching, perhaps...hmmmmm:skep:

Nope, you can do it twice. So if worst comes to worst we Franchise Pep twice.

You can franchise a player MORE than twice. Only difference is that beginning the 3rd time you have to pay that player the average of the top 5 players at the HIGHEST paid position (currently QB's), instead of the top 5 players at his normal position.

In other words if you franchised a punter for 3 years, you'd have to pay him the average of the top 5 QB's beginning the 3rd year.

Of course, this really doesn't matter for Peppers since he'd already be paid the most anyway. He'd just get the yearly increase from the previous year.

I would give Pep and Draft picks for Calvin.

1) Calvin would be the best WR in the game on any other team.

2) Much younger than Pep (they were both #2 picks but CJ is much younger)

3) CJ plays to Jakes strength (close your eyes and throw the ball far and hope Smith comes down with it)......I love Smitty and his fight, but if you are throwing jump balls you want CJ or Fitz waiting under the ball.

An unhappy, wanting big money Peppers, for an underrated, team player Asomaugh? I would do that deal in a heartbeat.

But the crazy thing is that Peppers never said he wanted big money. you never heard that come out of his mouth. He just wants to be some where new. One thing about Peppers is that he has never been greedy or that type of guy.

I would make the trade but also ask for a 1st or 2nd as well

No way that would happen. If anything we would have to give up some picks. Asomugha is younger and arguably just as much of a freak just at a different position. You don't find 6'2'' CBs that are as fast and with as good of hands as he has. He is truly a special DB which just shows you the ineptitude of Oakland that they essentially gave his contract to Deangelo Hall. Honestly I would trade Peppers and a 2nd round pick for Asomugha.
