When you think of a pass first league, having two legit corners (gamble and peterson) would let us blitz more and have more confidence in our secondary. I understand a corner might not have the flash and impact...but i def don't think we'll be high enough to draft Luck. The panthers have multiple issues..so BPA might be the best route.

with Clausen on the bench its hard to know what we have in him.I could see Hurney not drafting a QB and bring in a vet

I can't beleive people are already ditching Clausen. Moore too, for that matter. Moore has shown he can produce when the OL is good, when the WRs are on, and when the running game is going well. Clausen looked as good as Moore. It aint the QB, folks. It is the WRs and the right side of the OL.

As for the pick, DT has to be considered. With a rookie pay scale nearly a certainty, trading the first pick would not be as difficult as in the past. There are pretty good DTs in the state of Bama-Crimson TIde and Tigers.

As for the WRs, we have a ton of potential that will only get better. The three rookies, Smith, Devin Thomas will come around. Another green WR out of college is not what we need. Even if 2 of those I named bust, we should be solid with Wright and Martin returning. (Smith, Thomas, Gettis, Wright, Martin--however, if Edwards and Lafell step up, the stable is full)

Our Dts will start wearing down as the season progresses and it will become our biggest weakness. Johnson might be a first and second down DT only. Hayden and Landri are overachieving. A top DT would draw double teams, possibly catch the focus of 3 interior linemen. That sure frees up the DEs and LBs. A good D would become a great D.

The idea that we will have a lower pick than no. 2 is based soley on the idea that Moore will play in low pressure situations and push us towars the middle of the top 10. That said, if we do land No.1/2 id take Luck over Locker any day. Something about locker's game against nebraska this year that scares me about him.
