Beginning to believe...

Stop it John Fox :D

Well, that's one I haven't been accused of before :sosp:

To the folks saying it doesn't matter, quite wrong. It most definitely does.

Granted, it may not alter the results this season, but come next year the team is going to have decisions to make. What happens from here on out will have an effect on those decisions.

So yeah, it matters.

Once, all the draft prelims are over and if Luck is a top 1 or 2 pick and the Panthers have a shot, yes take him. Sorry, I don't believe in Clausen, I don't believe he has it for an big time NFL starter. Yes, if he gets a couple of years on the bench and surround him with talent he could be a serviceable starter. But I don't think he is that "Franchise" QB that can take a team to the next level.

Of course knowing the Panthers luck we will win a game after Christmas to blow any chance at it.

Andrew Luck is a lot like Alex Smith.

Nobody can find a college QB in this year's class that they feel is deserving of a high first round pick, so they create one.

Good to know Luck won't be coming here next year.

I just threw up a little in my mouth. Are you seriously comparing Luck to Alex Smith? Wow I'm glad your not in charge.

While normally I don't normally like choosing a QB with the top pick, Luck is definitely worth it. One of the most pro ready QB's I have ever seen.

Oh Lord you said the magic words. Wasn't our QB this year "Pro Ready". If that is pro ready give me a project any day of the week.

Also, you said normally you don't normally like choosing a QB with the top pick and I'm curious as to how often this has happened to you?

100% in agreement. I never wanted us to draft Clausen. Couldn't fault them due to his perceived value but I sure wouldn't have done it.

You must be joking. This a forum based 100% in speculation and opinions of what posters would do in certain situations. All I meant was normally I wouldn't want the team I am a fan of picking a QB with the 1st overall pick. Grow up.

Besides the joke there was a real question. How many times have you wanted to draft a QB 1. You just said you didn't want to draft Clausen because you weren't in on the hype. You said Luck because he was "NFL Ready" (shudders) so I want to know what the difference is between why Luck and not Clausen. Luck is just as much hype as Clausen.

I'm a little buzzed so bare with me.

I never said that. The main reason I didn't want Clausen is that one of two things was most likely to happen (keep in mind this was in April). A. either Moore came in and we finished the year respectable or B. He stunk the place up to the point we start a rookie in which case we most likely would have a crappy season (in hindsight so far I was right).

In the case of A. Moore would be resigned and Clausen would stay on as a backup and most likely never see any playing time getting traded for much less then the 2nd we gave up for him. In the case of B. Fox would most likely be not kept and then the new HC would most likely want to bring in his own QB (same result).

Now as far as how they differ (and keep in mind this is all a matter of opinion as I see yours appears to be different). Luck is a much better leader and has better decision making. I see more of Quinn in Clausen and more of P. Manning in Luck. Luck (or Harbaugh who I also want) has turned a Stanford team from a bunch of nobodies into contenders. Quinn took ND nowhere.

so you want to draft another QB with our 1st round pick and not develop the one we have now (that we used or 2nd round pick on), just b/c he is having a bad couple of games? You want to waste a 1st rd top pick on another QB? NO FRECKING THANKS. Get a WR, get something. AJ green is what we need. Let Clausen develop around those guys who we draft and who he has played with this season.

you're right, we're not young enough at WR yet.

listen to this interview of Andrew Luck holy poo I can't wait until he's a Panther

you're right, we're not young enough at QB yet

I think it's way too early to say what we'll be doing next year at the receiver position. There's a lot we still don't know about the guys we have.

My personal take: I have a hard time believing we use our top pick on that spot, and I said that even before Devin Thomas and David Clowney were picked up.

Likewise, at QB it's hard for me to believe that anyone (outside of possibly Harbaugh, and that's no lock) would dump a top pick in only his second year.

As far as Luck, nothing in that interview clip especially blows me away, but I do like what I've seen on the field.

Funny thing: There's been way more discussion of this than the actual topic of the thread
