I Think we got the lemon QB in the draft

Expectations were way too high this year given the changes. In retropsective I think people are just now seeing how bad we are. it is hard to lay that at one position right now. What part of our game is going well. Even the defense is sporatic playing well for some quarters while giving up huge plays in others.

well are scheme is still the same as it was with Jake, instead of changing it to fit the QBs and are D is 12th seeing that there on the field 40 mins. a game isnt that bad:willy_nilly:

jeff davidson's game plan & play calling may be the true lemon on this team

This... and it's not just Davidson. No QB is gonna look good with what the coaches are giving them. The plays are just too simple and predictable that other teams really don't have much to defend against. Add to that some really stupid play calls, and you've got... the 2010 Carolina Panthers.

All I can say is look what Brett Favre looked like without a receiving core and with one of the best Defenses and RB's in the league. Now everyone is jumping on Clausen after a couple of games. Crazy....

I am not saying Clause is the "golden one," but I am saying that he deserves a whole year before we judge him. And yes I said a whole year. Sanchez was terrible his first year too and that was on a far better team. Only a hand full of rookie qbs have had success their first year. That is a fact....

It is hard for me to separate the run game and the O-line from the passing game and the quarterback. Seems to me the O-line has been a weak point but the lack of a passing game makes it that much worse. The running game also suffers from lack of a passing game as we face 8 and 0 guys in the box and plenty of run blitzing.

I kind of think it is the opposite, if the quarterback position were more solid, the O-line and running game wouldn't be so bad. Of course that is the chicken-egg argument and can go both ways.

As for the defense they are a mixed bag. They play well at times and get blown up others. One of my biggest concerns is struggles getting off the field on third down which wears them down and exacerbates the offensive's difficulty sustaining drives. I really can't find one phase of the game that is doing well right now.

I do see you point. However, we have not had a legitimate passing game for several years. Yet, our run game was beastly the last two.

It all starts with the OLine's complete inability to run block.

I agree with both points made.. only thing I would add is that I haven't seen much different from '08 to this year as far as our offensive plays and playcalling goes..

matter of fact, with such inexperience, I think the playcalling has been that much more predictable since we tried to run the ball on every down the 1st few games..

this is a chicken or egg debate because this is a team sport and each aspect relies on both in order to find success..

I think teams knew we had to run, saw that all we were doing was running, and with the right side of our line gone from the past 2 years, that is another reason the run game faltered.. (so far)

and it isn't like we've started giving the defense more to think about as far as what play/formation we are going to run..
