What about Peppers to DC for Colt Brennan and a 1st (or more)?

So did you feel the same about Jake prior to us acquiring him?

I sure as heck wouldn't have traded a Julius Peppers to get him. I wouldn't trade a Julius Peppers to get the Jake we have now, much less the unknown that he was then. I like Jake, but that'd be a ridiculous trade.

Players like Delhomme are guys that you acquire cheap and with little risk. If they become good, you struck gold. If they stink, you didn't lose much.

Trading away players who are already good (franchise level even) for players that haven't shown a thing as pros but who you hope might turn good? Any GM who did that would deserve to be laughed out of the profession.

(yes, even with the first rounder)

The Aaron Kampman idea holds way more interest to me.

If we can get a first and third round pick for him, then I'd probably take it (though I'd probably hold out for a first and second).

It's all just chatter at this point.

That's about the absolute least I'd be willing to accept, and only as a worst case scenario.

Heck, Buffalo got that much in trade for Peerless Price. If that was all we got for Peppers it'd be a huge disappointment. No way I'd go any lower than that.

What about the pundits who say we're going to end up letting him walk (which I don't personally believe at this point), or the possibility of Pep holding out, or being a "lemon" as QUACK calls him? I guess, like me, you don't believe that this is in the realm of possibility. Don't you worry that we, and others like us, may just be being a bit optimistic about how this is going to all shake down?

from Peter king's MMQB.

e. Julius Peppers wants to go elsewhere. The Panthers aren't going to let him, not without significant compensation. Look for this one to last a long time, for the Panthers to franchise Peppers and try to entice an offer of at least a first-rounder for him. Wouldn't be surprised to see Miami offer its first-round pick for him. It'd be a fair offer. Peppers and Phillip Merling would be a nice combo in the Dolphins' 3-4 scheme. link

I usually don't like what he has to say but he does mention Miami as a possible destination.

If they can trade Peppers for whatever DE the "other team" has and 1st round pick, I say go for it.

Players who are unhappy with thier contracts become cancers until they get what they want. Peppers is a big name and he can cause a lot of grief if he wants. We need better chemistry, not piss and vinegar.

A first rounder and Colt Brennan? I doubt it, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't love it. I have a feeling that Washington actually wants to develop its next QB, and after his performance over pre-season, they probably won't trade him.

But if they do, I would love. We would have two young Qbs to groom. Brennan really impressed me during pre-season and Matt Moore impressed in his 3 games last year.
