How would you turn this thing around?

First off, assume Fox leaving is a given. What would be the first 3-5 steps you would take to raise the Titanic?

1. Get a young, hungry coach and not a retired guy who is simply bored and wants back on the merry go round. Or even a not-so-young but even-more-hungry coach. Let that coach make mistakes his first year without saying "where did we get this bozo?" Even Chuck Noll, who won four Super Bowls, made one of the dumbest coaching moves in Super Bowl history (see SB X). Don't expect Parcells/Shula/Walsh all rolled into one. There will be some games lost due to coaching.

2. Keep the current college scouting department. Make changes in the pro scouting department.

3. Build around Beason on defense and Clausen and DWill on offense. Everyone else is tradeable. Except maybe Kalil. You have some of the best college scouts out there. Give them picks to work with.

4. When you hire the new coach, make sure fans see the new direction you are taking. If it looks like you've hired another Fox, you've already lost a lot of them. Tell them you are building around a young quarterback, whether that is Clausen or someone else, and you are maintaining the strong defense standard that Carolina has typically had.

5. Announce that you are changing the stadium policy. Have a family friendly section of your stadium where the current atmosphere is encouraged. The rest of the stadium is for fans who want the same NFL experience most fans get to enjoy.

1. Bring in the chin! Why the hell not? I am not that crazy about hiring him but it would automatically bring charisma and hope to this team.

2. Keep D-Will, expand the rest and make a super fun pass-happy, high-flying offense with the likes of Mallett or Locker. Make other fun Mountanier packages with crazy confusing plays.

3.Give the fans some say-so in who is drafted, traded, cut, hired as coach etc..via polls.

4. As the owner, visit fans in the stands decked out in Panther gear and get them amped up for the game!

5. Give one out of every 1,000 fans at the game the chance to stand on the sidelines the whole game.

6. Fire Davidson on offense, give Meeks the go ahead to make the craziest defense he can.

7. Recruit heavily special players for special teams and possibly hire the Virginia Tech special teams coach.

Trade down and draft the best Guard available. Investigate and draft the best available DL prospect especially someone who can play a nasty UT. Cornerback comes next.

Try to build a more intense atmosphere at the stadium.

Hire an offensive coordinator who will playcall to our team's advantage and who will display a tendency towards calling exciting and creative plays.

Really evaluate Clausen with the help of several new sets of eyes and if necessary bring in a new QB to play while Clausen prepares mentally and physically.

Make Armanti Edwards or Josh Johnson my starting QB (I kid I kid)

1 and 2 I can agree with.

3. Still would bring in a veteran to get stability there. It would be a extra 3-4 wins next year. Clausen I would still groom and let him know that next year will be his year.

4. Still I brought in a vet QB I agree with the coach thing. We will need one that is willing to get the fans involved and interested in the team.

5. Unfortunately most NFL stadiums are going to the way of the Panthers. But having a few sections that arent family friendly might work.

1. Find the best offensive minds in the NFL and get them on staff. HC, OC, QB's, WR's something. You have to score points to win consistantly.

2. In doing so, you will get the fans back into it. Football is terribly boring to "normal" fans when games are low scoring defensive battles.

3. Build around Clausen on O if the minds that you brought in say that he is the guy.

4. If Clausen is not "the guy" try like hell to get a good QB. (something we have never tried to do since Collins)

5. Fire Hurney. The reaches for EB and AE the past few drafts, while trading away future draft picks has set this team back.

6. Start trying to sign some fan favorites, D Will, Kalil, Beason.

trade DeWill for top 15 first round pick or bottom 1st round plus later pick.

trade steve smith for late 2nd.

bring in offensive minded coach, he names his own OC.

leave meeks in place.

keep hurney for now.

bring in veteran QB. Clausen can't learn from Moore, Moore doesn't know anything. Pennington, Bulger for 2 years then go to Clausen.

rebuilding starts up front. draft heavy on OL and DL next couple of years.

expect playoffs in 2012, contender by 2014. superbowl appearance by 2015 or 2016.

Steve nor D Will are worth what you are asking/predicting.

maybe not steve. mid to late 3rd then. he has value to a team superbowl ready. he's still a stud next couple of years.

disagree on dewill. he was a first round pick and has proven himself as first round value. he's just what green bay or new england needs to put them in the superbowl. their first round pick on a running back next year isn't as good as dewill is right now. he has first round value.

1. Sign best available free agent wide reciever. Go into next season with Smith at 1, FA wr at 2, Gettis at 3, and Lafell at 4.

2. Sign a game ready veteran QB. I don't care if they are awful. If they have experience in the game and have been a pro for 5+ years, bring them in. Moore and Clausen need a mentor.

3. Clean out the entire coaching staff. I for one am not as high on Meeks as a lot of you are. Our run defense is pathetic, and we still play a lazy cover scheme. Get a defensive coaching staff that will get after the QB. On Offense, just give me some creativity. Spread the offense out and pound deangelo and stewart. It makes no sense to me to see us try to run with everyone bunched on the line.

4. Draft: Cornerback, DT, Offensive Guard. I dont' care in what order. We need to find Marshall's replacement because i don't think Munnerlyn can handle the starting roll. Depending on Otah being able to come back, offensive guard isn't as big a need as the other two. They can move schwartz inside and he would probably do just fine.

5. Be active on Draft Day. I don't see us winning many games next year, so get active on draft day and load up with picks in both this draft and the next. This will in turn build our future and hopefully make us competitive for years to come.

1. bury the Fox era.

2. promote Jim Skipper to head coach.

3. fire Jeff Davidson. hire Kevin Wilson of Oklahoma.

4. keep the 4-3 defense scheme along with Meeks.

5. trade Steve Smith to a potential playoff team like the Rams (for picks) or Redskins ( for Albert Haynesworth)

6. trade Deangelo Williams to the Packers (for picks and either Jordy Nelson or James Jones)

7. trade down in draft. acquire more picks. aim for three first round picks. use those on CB ( good year for CB's) WR ( also a good crop of prospects) and RB ( Ryan Williams, Vareen,or Leshoure) If Smith is not traded for Fat Albert get Jerrell Powe or Jarvis Jenkins to play nose in the second.

8. Sign a veteran QB to mentor Pike and Clausen.
