Hosts On PacMan Show Agree:Panthers Unlikey To Get A 1st Rder For Peppers

I told you guys that other GMs are going to try and call the Panthers FO bluff :dupe:

GMs know that Peppers don't won't to be on this team. The last thing an organization wants is a disgruntle player in the locker room.

Look, I know most of you are dreaming of a 1st rder in return for him, but it isn’t happening because Peppers tipped his hand which puts the Panthers at a disadvantage.:mad:

No GM worth his salt are going to give you a 1st rder when they know Peppers don't wont to play here and the Panthers can't afford (not literally) to pay him if he is not traded, especially when they have to sign Gross.

Yeah- you can trade him to any team, but no team will give you any picks w/o a long term deal. Therefore, Peppers has the advantage in this situation.

Again, to all the fans, local talk host and Panthers FO, please move on and don't p i s s Peppers off. This is not the 1st time a player has decided to leave his hometown. You act like the guy has committed a sin because he doesn’t want to play here anymore. While I don’t agree with how he handle the situation, its still his choice. Some of you act like Charlotte is a top market or some big-time city, and it’s not by a LONG shot. Of course, its not the worse city, but its not even in the top 15 when it comes to places where top entertainers or athletes (minus Race Car) want to hang out or live. Michael Jordan is the GM of the Bobcats and yet he’s not here 20% of the time during the NBA season. And please don’t tell me I’m lying because they talk about it all the time on 610/1660 talk shows. I’m just being honest with you as to how others view this city outside of the Carolinas. In sports you have to have some sort of attraction for athletes, whether it’s the weather, entertainment, big-market, winning history- you get the point. The state of North Carolina is and always will be college BASKETBALL. Period!

I digress-

Many local talk-heads are now saying that Peppers might even hold out and sit for 2009. To make matters worse, they don't believe Peppers is all that hyped and anxious to play football next year, anyways. Either way, your team could lose- out on compensation.

Another thing- Peppers is expressing his desire to play in a 3-4 defense. This would also limit trade options for the Panthers as many of the teams that run that scheme are pretty much set. So, unless Peppers changes his options then the Panthers might be s-c-r-e-w-e-d!

With that being said- I think the Pepper will garner a low round in the 2nd and a 3rd or maybe two 3rds or a 4th rounder. IMHO-That is better than nothing

lol

The Panthers could get a 1st rounder and more with ease.

Its not the talent part, Peppers is worth a first, but why give up a pick when you know the player wants out and the team probably won't pay him? Teams will probably want to just wait for free agency and not give up picks.

he's lying is ass off or he wasn't listening because Steve Reed said that they would probably get a 1st round at the start of the show.

Now he's saying that its going to be challenging to get a low rd 1st rd. You are not listening

If you think a team is going to give you a 1st rder, please tell me who?

Way to throw your team under the bus after you leave Peppers. Very classy.

Yea way the throw a player under the bus who's been nothing but class since he's been here.

Only obligation Peppers has is to get the best deal worked out for himself, not to also maximize what the Panthers can get for him in a trade.

Thats why Marty Hurney gets a check.

thanks- Steve Reed and PacMan are saying that its possible that the Peppers get a 1st rder but its going to be tough because most team know the situation between Peppers and the Panthers.

I'll say it again....JARED ALLEN DID THE SAME THING TO THE CHIEFS. The talking heads were talking about him holding out blah blah blah as well...guess what the Chiefs got a 1st and a 3rd for him. We should get and IMO will get something in the same price range.

What does a long-term deal have to do with anything?? Pep is going to sign a long term deal with any team that we trade him too as long as its not the Lions or the Raiders. So the length of the deal has nothing to do with it b/c wherever he goes it will be for a longterm deal.
