Potential Head Coaches

Mr. Scot

Again, I'm just saying its a possibility. I don't see why viewing him as a potential candidate is so wrong. If he's not hired, which could easily happen given the sources, I lose no sleep. If the labor situation picks up and is resolved, and we somehow sign him, I lose no sleep. I'm losing no sleep. But I'm about to go to sleep. Good conversation Scot ;)

Technically, Bill Stewart from WVU is a possibility, but it's not one I'd take too seriously.

Anything can happen, and you can look at whomever you wish. If you want to look at likelihood though, the evidence is stacked against Cowher getting the job.

No desire to rain on anyone's parade. Just trying to be realistic.

Ron Rivera's stock should have been high way before tonight...they've had the #1 Defense for weeks.

Been high for awhile really.

He will be a candidate no doubt.

Peyton only has 7 picks coming into tonight.

Me thinks this kind of 3 pick performance by the Bolt D can really get the Momentum steam train chugging.

Pro-Harbaugh conspiracy theorists might say this:

Hurney has already begun to assemble Harbaughs' coaching staff for next year, consider these facts:

In 1999 Harbaugh led the Chargers(Run at the time by Hurney's mentor Bobby Beathard) to an 8–8 record. His OC was none other than our very own Geep Cryst who helped then quarterback Jim Harbaugh enjoy the second-highest passing output of his 15year NFL career.

Also the Chargers D-line coach in 1996 who followed Hurneys' friend Bobby Ross to Detroit was none other than the Panthers D-line coach Brian Baker.

Harbaugh as head coach, Cryst will be his OC, Baker will be his DC

Your post made me realize that while I'd run the backgrounds of other teams' assistants, I hadn't run our own. Doing that now, and found a little more.

From 1991 to 1995, Geep Chryst was director of research and quality control for the Chicago Bears.

The QB for the first three years of that tenure?

And yeah, he and Chryst reunited in San Diego where Harbaugh was the starting QB and Chryst was the OC.

    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.

    • Mustard BBQ sauce only. Bessingers or Melvin's BBQ sauce.  However Bessingers is the best in the world, Melvin is 2nd.    I found this article    In fact, the New York Times Magazine described the sauce as “terrifically balancing the tangs of mustard and vinegar with a wood fire's charry flavor.” While helping his dad, Joseph “Big Joe” Bessinger, as a teenager in the kitchen of the family's first restaurants, Thomas learned the secret recipe for the gold sauce – ... https://www.bessingersbbq.com › t...
