Potential Head Coaches

Pro-Harbaugh conspiracy theorists might say this:

Hurney has already begun to assemble Harbaughs' coaching staff for next year, consider these facts:

In 1999 Harbaugh led the Chargers(Run at the time by Hurney's mentor Bobby Beathard) to an 8–8 record. His OC was none other than our very own Geep Cryst who helped then quarterback Jim Harbaugh enjoy the second-highest passing output of his 15year NFL career.

Also the Chargers D-line coach in 1996 who followed Hurneys' friend Bobby Ross to Detroit was none other than the Panthers D-line coach Brian Baker.

Harbaugh as head coach, Cryst will be his OC, Baker will be his DC

Nice digging

Chryst seems more likely to be a QB coach if he stays, though. Baker as a DC I could see, though I'd be fine keeping him as a DL coach too.

yeah, i'm not sure about chryst. QB coach...maybe. makes sense.

i don't know that there is any connection, but like i said before, my #1 target as OC if harbaugh is the HC is curtis johnson who is the WR coach for the saints. the dude is the best WR coach in the league. in addition to the scrubs he has helped look like studs they have on the saints, he was the coach for reggie wayne, santana moss, andre johnson, roscoe parrish (who was pretty decent in college).

don't particularly want him because he is some offensive genius or anything...that's harbaugh. johnson just whips players into shape. hiring him as an OC is the only way we'd be able to get him away from the saints.

baker as the DC...i don't know...maybe. not my first choice, but there would be a bit of continuity on the defense which hasn't really been the problem this year. i'd rather have marvin lewis or zimmer, but baker would be ok. having him and johnson on either side of the ball and harbaugh as the HC would sure help get this team disciplined. for a team as young as it is, that might not be a bad thing.

Quick Question? Do You guys really see Harbaugh Coming to Carolina an been the Head Coach? I know I want him but i just really cant see it, right now because i really dont think he wants to leave the college ranks. Also opportunitys like Michigan may open up or just staying at Stanford. I can Only see Russ Grimm or Brian Schottenheimer, who do you see the panthers picking? Just looking at the Panthers Organization who do you think. Yeah Russ Grimm. Im not all that sold on Grimm because i wonder can he really fix the Offense an make Jimmy Clausen a Good QB. An im not sold on Schottenheimer at all..

Any Thoughts???

For head coach? I think he'll get one for the Bengals job if he wants it. Outside of that maybe not so much. Then again, Fox got the Panthers job after a not-quite-as-good year in New York, so who knows?

Fair or not, the Bengals season has probably hurt his stock a lot. I don't blame him as much for the defensive woes because of A) injuries and B) it's the Bengals. With Mike Brown running the show, I doubt even Tom Landry could build a winning team.

Having him as Harbaugh's DC might be more possible than I first thought, but that would depend on Harbaugh.

maybe a courtesy interview with the Bengals. I just don't think he's thought of as a head coach in this league. Maybe I'm wrong, but there's not much buzz on him. There won't be that many spots, there are more esteemed assistants, and a load of head coaches with a lot of league buzz. In the case that Zimmer's available, Lewis is. I don't see Zimmer beating Lewis and Fox for the same job.

He's a good coordinator, I won't turn him down here, but if I put him up against Meeks I don't know that I'd say it's an upgrade.

Chryst may or may not be looked at as an OC. If he wanted an administrator and Harbaugh himself called the plays, good show. He'd be a good QBs coach otherwise.

Harbaugh has our old third-tier assistant, Mark Roman, as Run Game Coordinator. I can't stand titles like that, but it suggests Roman's held in high esteem with Harbaugh, so I'd like him here. I guess that would be a line coach here.

good notice he was on team with that staff. Specific to that team, Rod Perry could be had from the Colts, as a third-tier assistant. It's tough to expect assistants from staffs that aren't fired but third-tier guys (QC guys, assistant position coaches, etc) are almost always available.

Johnson, you'd have to get permission to interview. Good call on his abilities but most teams don't let you have their position coaches for coordinator jobs anymore.

If Harbaugh did come here I wonder how many of his college staff would be bring. Vic Fangio is his defensive coordinator but runs a 3-4. Would Harbaugh want to go to a team with a 3-4 already and bring Fangio or change ours to run a 3-4 or go with someone else completely? Would Fangio want to come back here under a new regime or not?

There are other guys on Harbaugh's staff with professional experience such as Ron Turner, Brian Polian, Ron Lynn, and others. Frankly he could likely move his college squad here and our coaching staff would be upgraded on defense and offense.

I bet even Chester McGlockton would like to come home to North Carolina and coach in Charlotte. He has a performance business in Greenville, SC.

i figure with a divisional rival it's even more unlikely. it's more of a dream team type scenario. i have no idea what his contract looks like. for some reason that type of thing is pretty hard to find. i guess no one is really interested in it.

that's the type of guy i would want for OC, though. not necessarily a offensive guru, more someone who is a position coach that can dramatically im[rove one aspect of the offense and implement the game plan like mccoy is doing in denver. only johnson>>>>>mccoy.

yeah, one thing that harbaugh has been able to do well is to get advanced talent to help coach his guys. i saw that during the offseason this year harbaugh brought in former pro defensive players (mainly DBs, i believe) to help the offense with the passing game.

i just trust his ability to surround himself with a good coaching staff. whoever he brings in, it wouldn't be difficult to upgrade what is currently here.

Ummm "No" "No" and "No".Schottenheimer has the best chance out of all them. But It seems like a recipe for disaster to Bring him In. Im seriously not sold on Him. An Mike Mccoy doesnt even call plays.

The way things looking it looks more an more like if Michigan lose this game, People will start to Call on Harbaugh.
