Potential Head Coaches

I'm not fretting over not getting Cowher...I'm fretting over the realization he's right about Carolina being cheap.
i don't think the panthers will be cheap when hiring a HC, or really in any regard after this season.

this team is going to be spending some money.

If we do get the number 1 pick More then likely and also depending on the coach it might be Luck. But if you really think about it, when it comes to the coaching search i think we might probably have the wrong idea of who to look for. For Example Last year we drafted Jimmy Clausen doesnt he suppose to be our QB of the Feature? What needs to happen is we should get somebody as our head coach he doesnt have to be a defensive coordinator or an Offensive coordinator but who ever that has the best chance to surround a good coaching staff around him to developed Clausen into a Great QB.

Because i really believe he can be a good QB its all about determination and with the right people it could workout.Look at matt ryan he is really turning into a Good QB, look at what he has around him in coaching and Players. They have him in a good position to be one of the best Quarterbacks in the league. Now i know its hard to find a good coaching staff but the best one are on a good team, so that should be a key Area to look at first.

Maybe Marty Mornhinweg is an Option I know his first time with the Detriot lions was all that good but still he might can get another shot. Also Mike Mularkey i also know his time with the Buffaloe bills wasnt good also but he might can get another chance.Right now these two are with two good Clubs who have really good offense that can put points up.I dont know how it works with a team in your divsion getting your coach and stuff like that. With mike Mularkey he is also a guy out of the steelers under bill cowher.I know these guys didnt do that well the first time with teams that they had. They are just maybes.

Also I do like harbaugh, but i dont like the college coach history in the NFL that makes me wonder that maybe in reality he doesnt have a chance at the Job in Carolina. If Carolina look at history and they will think back alot, they will really have to think this through. The chances are very slim the more i think. As much as i would like to see him as a coach.I just dont know.

Now dont get me wrong i also do like brian schottenheimer and Jason garrett but i really believe that these two arent what they seem especailly brian.I think he is Overated.Jason Garrett may have the best shot because he is getting his chance with the cowboys now.If i had to pick between the two i would probably go with garrett, just my opinion. Also it will be about who could rebuild the team that should be the first thing carolina should look for in a Head coach, because that is what we will need. Also there are other names and i will put them up later..

As much as I hate to say it, College coaches will get a chance in the NFL.But with the Carolina Panthers i dont think so.I would love to see Jim Harbaugh but i just dont see him with the panthers. If Harbaugh dont get a Chance you can maybe count out the rest of the people.Except maybe 1 or 2 i guess.

Way too soon. talk to me in April.

If we get the #1 pick, I hope it's Andrew Luck, but I'm not about to predict that just yet.

Really? You with Luck too? All this common sense and you look at our offense and say "it's not young enough yet"?

By the way, can we get ...you know who... bounced from this thread, or does this archaic board have that function?

Cowher may be over-priced, but, if Jerry wants people in the seats, he best pull that trigger. Cowher at least brings proven credibility; I'm sure he knows enough people to put decent OC/DC/coaches in their places to support him and be his replacement.

One thing is certain, Cowher will NOT have the worst coaching staff in the league. Something Fox seems to have year after year.

The other thing, Cowher's teams in Pittsburgh were tough, and had swagger. The Panthers never had, and they need it.

I'll take a proven coach over the coordinator wanna bes and god-forbide college football.

College football is not the NFL and the NFL is not college football; different thing to lead men vs. boys, ask Petrino and the Alambama coach, oh yeah, and Steve Spurrier.

Given a choice between either Cowher or Hurney, if it's a power struggle, see ya Hurney, either go back to doing cap, or move on. Reality is, the Panthers have never put together back to back winning seasons and Hurney is part of that legacy too.

In reality I will have to say that i would like to have a proven coach over a Coordinator, but the thing about the situation is, Jerry Richardson isnt trying to open up his pockets.

9 times out of 10 with a proven coach you have a better chance to build a really good team, it just depends on who is the coach. You are more likely to win with a proven coach then a first year head coach. And also some proven coaches can rebuild teams through expierence then a first year coach.Think Josh mcdaniels for example he will start to make GM's and owners think twice about fairly young Coordinators, Brian Schottenheimer for example.

Its just weather or not Richardson will open up his pockets to not ssaying a big name coach but a proven coach.

Luck? Yes, but not just Luck. You know I'm not in favor of starting rookie QBs. I'd want a veteran placeholder too (Kyle Orton would be nice).

For that matter, I'd much rather have a vet free agent receiver next year over another draft pick. I have a feeling that, one way or the other, Steve Smith will not be on roster next season. They'll need someone to take that veteran leadership role.

I also think Smith would be gone.More then likely he will be traded this season for a Draft pick or maybe a Couple of player who knows. But for a coaching search you have to give it to Rob Ryan right now. He is getting very hot in the league for to be a Potential Head coach in the NFL.Now more then likely there is a big chance that jason Garrett will probably remain the Head coach of the Cowboys.Like i said before even though our offense isnt that good means that we just have to go and fine an Offensive guy.Because it doesnt work like that. Its your coaching staff if you put good coaches around your players, you make them better..

Yasinskas on Potential Head coaches

Keep in mind, Hurney is the guy that drafted quarterback Jimmy Clausen this year. Just a hunch here, but I’m thinking the guy who ultimately gets the Carolina job is the guy who says the magic words to Hurney – “I can turn Jimmy Clausen into a good NFL quarterback.’’

Who is that guy?

I don’t think anyone’s been identified by the Panthers just yet. But Hurney has old ties to Arizona assistant head coach Russ Grimm. Denver offensive coordinator Mike McCoy used to be Carolina’s quarterbacks coach and is respected within the organization. Kansas City offensive coordinator Charlie Weis coached Clausen at Notre Dame.

There are other rising stars out there like New York Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. Or let’s really step off the charts here; what about Tampa Bay offensive coordinator Greg Olson?
