Potential Head Coaches

Do any WCO offense teams run a power blocking scheme or is it all zone?

Can go either way. Scheme tends to be zone, but man can be equally effective.

The type of lineman used varies too. Back in the glory days, the 49ers tended to protect Montana with a group of smaller, more athletic linemen. On the flipside, the Eagles generally protected McNabb with bigger, beefier, road grader types.

If there is a strike in 2011, will we retain Fox for the year or will they go ahead and name someone else? And I was wondering has a new coach ever been named while the existing coach is still coaching?

Fox isn't under contract for 2011. The only way he'd be the coach here next year would be if Richardson offered him an extension.

(the chances of that happening are roughly equivalent to the chances of the Panthers winning this year's Super Bowl) :nonod:

Even if there is no CBA next year and no new coach is hired, John Fox will still be out of a job.

I could see Kalil and Gross in a zone scheme but IDK about Otah.

We use man and zone blocking all the time right now. On most kickout plays wide the blocking is zone while most plays between the tackle the assignments are man. Pass blocking is usually zone more than man when facing a 3-4 while with a 4-3 people usually have someone in front of them. Still guys have to rub off to pick up blitzes, stunts and similar line moves.

Distilled to the very basics it is matter of whether you are blocking a specific man or anyone who comes into your assigned area. Most guys including our linemen have to be able to do both.

Cowher is definitely not coming, well I hold out hope but its unlikely. Leslie Frazier seems like a likely candidate. Frazier has been a head coach for many years on a small college level and has strong faith ties which I think the FO will like. Ive seen former quarterbacks coach and Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike Mccoy mentioned as well as a possible new coach.

In the end I know our FO will make a good choice and hopefully wont take a popular choice as Jon Gruden or Sean Mcdermott

I think Frazier will wind up taking Childress' job (now or next year).

I really hope we take a different approach offensively but I don't think it takes us hiring a new offensive minded head coach to do that. I dont know why we ever hired two former Cleveland Brown coaches to help lead our offense. Rip Scherer? really? since he did such a great job with Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson. Both players are 1 to 2 years away from being out of the league. Sure Derek Anderson had one good year but they also had Jamal Lewis running for them. I want to give Davidson slack considering Otah is out but I've never seen Gross have such a bad year. Seems like every time Ive been able to watch a game hes being called for false start

I feel the same way Also, I really dont think that we Just got to have an Offensive coach to be our head coach in order for our Offense to be good.. We just Need a Real Complete coaching staff.. We need an Good Offensive Coordinator And Good offensive line coach and A Good QB and WR coach..Right now its kind of hard 2 predict our kind of get an Idea against who can be our coach. Like this List

Leslie Frazier - Defensive Coordinator / Assistant Head Coach, Minnesota Vikings- More Likely to end up as Vikings coach. Unless that want somebody else but not likely.

Jim Harbaugh - Head Coach, Stanford University Head Coach- Not likely to leave standford unless carolina really want him.But dont See Carolina going after him Just because he is a college coach.

Mike Zimmer - Defensive Coordinator, Cincinnati Bengals - Has a Good chance but might be the coach for Bengals if Marvin lewis Is gone.

Sean McDermott - Defensive Coordinator, Philadelphia Eagles - He had a shot but not so sure any more dont really know whats goingo on in Philly. I doubt he gets a job now. They might be really desperate.

Ron Rivera - Defensive Coordinator, San Diego Chargers - More likely to end Up With the Vikings if Leslie Frazier takes Over.

Russ Grimm - Offensive Line Coach / Run Game Coordinator / Assistant Head Coach, Arizona Cardinals - He fits the Jerry Richardson profile, But might not get the Job It depends On the panthers M O next year.

Winston Moss - Inside Linebackers Coach / Assistant Head Coach, Green Bay Packers - He also Will have a good shot at getting the Job The only down fall is he never Been a Coordinator..

Mike Heimerdinger - Offensive Coordinator, Tennessee Titans - Has a Great shot also expierence and very Offensive minded. Well he fit the Panthers Profile Yes and No. Yes because he is expierence and work under Fisher. No because he is an Offensive Guy.But things can changed.

Keith Butler - Linebackers Coach, Pittsburgh Steelers - My Pick is Keith Butler He fits the Jerry Richardson Profile yes and he is out of the Steelers Organization. Like I said Before If carolina can Actually get this guy he will be our next Head coach..The only Down Fall is He aint the Defensive coordinator and The steelers might want him as the dick Lebeau Replacement.

Brian Schottenheimer - Offensive Coordinator, New York Jets - I really doubt he gets the Job. He is Offense isnt as good as i thought it would be Only strong Point Running Game. More Likely to end Up with the 49ers or some were. I doubt it would Be carolina.

Jason Garrett - Offensive Coordinator / Assistant Head Coach, Dallas Cowboys - He is either Dallas next Coach or he isnt in Dallas any more Might have a Shot at the 49ers or Chargers Job Next year

So were does this leaves Reteards Well Cowher May want 2 come back who i can see him coaching Denver Or Carolina. Only if Carolina just Really want a Big name coach. Which i serious Doubt.

Gruden- Well He will be in the Both Next Year and for a While. Due to he has a New contract with ESPN. And I dont know if you can break it or Not. If he can San Diego will be his first choice.

So here is my New List of potentials For Carolina.

1. Mike Zimmer

2.Winston Moss

3.Greg Manusky

4.Keith Butler

5.Rob Ryan

Offensive Guys

1.Mike Heimerdinger

2.Russ Grimm

3. Bill O'Brien

4. Brian Schottinheimer

Also Maybes Ray Horton, Todd Bowles..

    • Hope Koch recovers (he’s stated numerous times he doesn’t like to be called “koochie”) soon. But he does not instill confidence in the crease. I don’t have any confidence in any of our goalies, healthy or not. Andersen when available gives us the best chance to win but he’s never available.    Team has to explore trade options soon.
    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
