Potential Head Coaches

Mr. Scot

i wouldnt take Leslie Frazier off the Market yet Because what could happen is Brian Schottinheimer Could end up With the Vikings..Brad Childress Will more then likely be in the Run for the coaching Job for the Cowboys and 49ers Also it depends on what happen In Denver. With Jon gruden and Cowher Coming back I cant really count them out in either..Because it could get 2 a point that nobody be on the market but them..Mike Zimmer would be the Bengals Coach when marvin is out.You could also see Jon gruden in San diego he would fit with the chargers well.Bill cowher Will not come back in Unless somebody got 2 really want him. I also see Brad Childress back to as an Coordinator..

But just in Case if leslie Frazier is off the List. One of the scenarios will be this. Frazier the coach for the vikings his DC could be Ron Rivera..He will need an Offensive Coordinator. But I have to apologize about Gruden He want be entering the league He has a Multi Year deal With Espn.Okay Cowboys the most likely scenario now is that John Fox and Jason Garrett. Mike Zimmer will be the Bengals next coach.San Diego Most likely it will be Brian Schottinheimer or Brad Childress..That leaves Carolina IDK..

Mr. Scot, I would be interested to hear your intake on the 49ers' DC, Greg Manusky

I know the 49ers are having a down year but I don't necessarily believe it is because of their defense but more along the lines of their lack of QB play (which they may have found something in Troy Smith)

Thoughts?

He's one I'll likely profile.

You need to start a potential QB thread.

Moore's status is still up in the air, but I seriously doubt the next head coach gets rid of Clausen. He might bring in a different veteran backup, but outside of a fairly wild scenario or two, Clausen likely stays.

With that in mind, the best thing that could happen for Clausen would be the Panthers getting a coach that wants a West Coast Offense. Whether or not that's the best thing for the team is a matter of debate, but it'd definitely be the best thing for Clausen's skill set.

Could a coach who wants to run a conventional offense conceivably trade Clausen to a WCO team (like say, the Vikings) and then get his own vet or draft pick? Sure, that's possible, but it's one of those "wild scenarios" I was describing.

Not quite sure I understand your logic there. Wasn't it Jimmy who talked about how similar Jeff Davidson's offense was to Charlie Weis' offense? Running a different system has nothing to do with him fumbling 7 times in 3 games.

Skill set.

Short-arm QBs (Pennington, for example) work way better in the WCO than an offense like ours.

From your Coaching Philosophies, It seems like Winston Moss, Mcdermott, and leslie Frazier are the only guys who probably would Run a WC Offense..But what are the chances we get these guys. Winston Moss he isnt either a Coordinator yet and Mcdermott future is Up in the Air in Philly. And Leslie Frazier will probably end up as the Vikings next coach Next season Unless it be somebody else they really want to get ...So Its Really hard 2 pick our next Coach..The guy who has the best chance is winston Moss and Frazier but What are the chances we get them. And Moss will want to bring that 3-4 defense that he has in greenbay. Even though he isnt the Coordinator..

Can we please pick up Luck if he drops to us? (This is provided we don't come in dead last this year, which is looking more and more likely).

Harbaugh and Luck next year ftw!! Trade Pickles to a team that could use him properly and hopefully get a 2nd rounder for him at least. Win-win!

    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
