Also, on Heimerdinger:

He's old compared to the other candidates, but not Seifert old. I would though love to dig into why he's never been a head coach. I admire that even though he's been coaching for such a long time, he can adapt really well with the times and produce a stout team.

There are a few guys for whom that's a question (Zimmer is another one, as are Frazier and Rivera).

Sometimes the opportunity just doesn't come at the right time. Rex Ryan and Gary Kubiak are both guys who had more than one interview before it was finally their turn, but they're doing well now. Marvin Lewis was a perennial candidate before getting his shot too, but that one hasn't turned out quite so good (it is the Bengals, but still...)

(Fox) also picks decent assistant coaches, a must given that Jason Garrett needs the boot. And he’s not such a big name that he’d demand control over personnel of the team, though perhaps that would be a nice change of pace from the wild nutcase currently in charge of picking players.

Kirk Ferentz this should be a Guy who should be a Candiate for the Carolina Panthers Head Coaching Job. He has Done Well in Iowa with 7 Winning Seasons... He is a Traditional guy and he seems like He will fit the Jerry Richardson Profile.. Also runs a 4-3 defense and Runs the Ball Pretty Heavy with a good Running Game...What do you think about this guy Mr. Scot i Believe he should Be a Good Candiate. Also Has been an Offensive Line coach under Bill belichickn so he has worked in the NFL..

I don't think Kirk Ferentz wants to be a pro coach.

His name pops up every year when there's an opening. Teams have been interested in him before, but it doesn't seem like he's interested in them.
