Potential Head Coaches

Mr. Scot

Well If we was to get keith butler more then likely we will play in 3-4..And we will not be wasting talent because Beason and connor in the middle. And johnson will be a free agent after this year.Sean Mcdermott he seem aite. But im really not sold on him either.Just like mr. scot said he can be a huge success or the biggest bust.As a coach. So what i will say is give it a little more time with mcdermott...I think who ever that comes in most likely will try 2 run the 3-4 defense.Due to the fact we have no d-line.the only guy who got a sack dis year is johnson i think.

I'm just scared Beason and Connor would be too small or struggle to play the middle in a 3-4 scheme (ala Jonathan Vilma). Johnson could walk I guess with the rest of our DL. But the question would be is what do we do with Hardy? He has too much potential to let him rot or be successful on some other team. Does he put on weight and try to play DE or shed some pounds to be a 3-4 OLB? Brown, Norwood and even TD could flourish in a 3-4 as rush LBs though.

I think Cowher is a lock for NYG unless Coughlin is retained, then we might have a shot. IDK about Gruden. I think that he would come here to coach for Richardson above coaching for the Browns. Those two guys are my top two choices.

After that I'd have to say I'd want a successful OC. I'm sick of the "play it safe and let the defense win" mentality that most DCs have. Find an OC to run the team and help with the offense and then let the DCs handle the defense. I don't want another John Fox in here running this team where we play for field goals and draft only to be able to run the ball. The league is changing and so should our HC search.

Marty Mornhinweg is one guy that IDT I've seen mentioned. He has learned from the best in Philly and is going to get a shot somewhere. If we whiff on Gruden and Cowher then Mornhinweg needs to be next on the list.

Mornhinweg was an unmitigated disaster with the Lions.

He may be a good West Coast OC, but no way I'd want him as a head coach.

This. I have no doubt in his play-calling ability, or his capability of being an OC, hes really good, but his decision-making is horrid, no for HC. His nickname is Moron-weg

Not sure if this has been linked here yet, but Yasinkas covered a Zimmer story relating to his time in Atlanta: http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcsouth/post/_/id/14485/mike-zimmer-rips-bobby-petrino

If you pick Zimmer it looks like it would make for interesting press conferences. I wonder given the close mouth approach of the Panthers if that would be a huge strike against him. We have never had a head coach who actually told it like it was. I doubt that is by coincidence but rather by design.

zimmer would at least be fun to watch in press conferences. I think Fox uses the same 5 words to describe the team after every game, no matter how they do.

That's not entirely a bad thing... early on, I found it kind of endearing. Now that we are misfiring early in yet another season, it is frustrating the hell out of me though. Then again, his press conferences have gotten slightly more interesting lately... I am eager to see how he distances himself from the team next.

Overall, there are pros and cons to a fiery coach. I think one thing you can say about Fox is that he doesn't provide other teams with much bulletin board material.

The neatest thing about this coaching search will be to see how far JR goes from what we have now. Will it be O/D? How about coach personality? Name recognition?

Just to throw some thing out there..Is Rob Ryan a Good fit with carolina..This year the Browns Played The falcons and Bucs and just today they played the Saints..Its Obivious that carolina is not a so good team.Today we gain our first win against the 49ers And we should of one.We had 2 weeks to prepare for them.Back to the point, Rob ryan defense has played good against NFC south teams this year.Maybe he should be in the running to be our coach. His defense played good and thats what we are going to need to beat and win in our division.Since the panthers havent played the browns yet.He just might be able to show case in the match up.And Gain a head start for to be next year coach.
