Andrew Luck and Jim Harbaugh

I know we invested heavily into the quarterback position this year. But I still think it would be amazing if we got Harbaugh and picked up Luck with the first pick and were able to keep the two together. Honestly I don't have much faith in Jimmy Clausen, but Luck is a specimen. What do you think?

Conventional wisdom would agree with you, that it would be unwise to throw a 2nd round pick away. But I think our situation is a bit different. Jimmy Clausen was drafted because he ran a similiar offensive system at Notre Dame, but when we hire a new coach all that sort of goes out the window. Not only that, we don't have a lot of money invested in Clausen. We have a chance to get a freak in Andrew Luck, if we have that opportunity I take it.

If we get #1 pick and Luck is available and no defensive players have really separated themselves, we might draft him. If you have the #1, you can't always go with need if the top player is that much better.

I doubt we'll have the #1, though, and I doubt Luck will be up when we pick.

If we got the #1 pick, why wouldn't Luck be available?

    • I think it will be hard to not go edge in the second if we go QB first. Say you have Starks, one of Bond/Egbuka, and maybe one Edge (don't have a name to throw out that is end of 1st round projected and may slide)... do you still go Starks? Just curious. I haven't looked into starks much, as I've been focused on QB, WR, and DL prospects.
