I rarely do this, but today I'm posting a football fan's e-mail in full. Thought it was interesting. This is from Neal Mitchell of Greenville, S.C. He sent it to me the day after Carolina's loss to Chicago, but I'm just now getting around to posting it.

Dear Julius:

I’ve been a fan of yours since your freshman year at UNC. You were/are an exceptional athlete and very exciting to watch. I enjoyed the years that you were with the Panthers and don’t think I would have it any other way. However, now, I have lost respect for you.

You want to know why the fans, including me, booed you unmercifully at Sunday’s game?You lied to us.

For 8 years, the fans stood and screamed at the top of our lungs when your name was called during pre-game announcements and you repaid us with qb sacks, forced fumbles and athletic interceptions that are certainly hall of fame worthy when all is said and done. Then you went and said the Panthers disrespected you? How exactly was that? By not offering you 101 mil over 7 years? Was 10 million not enough for you to have the adoration of thousands of Panther fans?

Don’t lie to us, we aren’t stupid. You didn’t want to play in Carolina anymore. If you had just manned up and admitted that you didn’t want to play here any longer, I would have said fine and continued to root for you wherever you went. But you didn’t... You expect this type of behavior from Randy Moss and Albert Haynesworth, but not from our Peppers.

Now, don’t get me wrong here. I respect and admire the sacrifices that you and all athletes make all for sake of entertaining the masses. I think that the top athletes deserve to get compensated in big numbers for these sacrifices. But don’t you think that the fans should be repaid with a little honesty and some type of respect? Put yourselves in our shoes for a minute. Most of us fans literally scrape together the money to buy season tickets to the Panthers, to the tune of $830 for one set of section 201 tickets. That may not be a lot of money to you, but it is to us.

When you turned down the offer to be the highest paid DL, that screamed to us you didn’t want to play here anymore. Why would a guy loved by so many turn down so much? Why have I spent so much of my money to see someone I’ve respected, disrespect my team? Why did I spend countless games screaming until I was horse for this guy? Athletes only thank the fans when they win the Super Bowl. Well, guess what? If it wasn’t for fans, you guys wouldn’t be getting those fat contracts.

Jordan Gross said Sunday, “You get booed by everybody that cheered you for eight years…you’re not going to take it.”

Well Julius, you deserved it for treating your fans the way you did. Tell the truth and you’ll gain one fan back.

Honestly I could give a rats ass about Peppers now. Would I liked for him to have stayed? Yes of course but I don't want someone on the team I pull for that wants to play somewhere else. Good Riddance.

Speaking of Jordan Gross, he should have grew a set of balls and blocked the guy he played against in practice every day, you would think he would know how to at least slow him down by now.

LOL, is it really worth getting this butt-hurt over anyone?

Peppers got what he wanted and so did we, we didn't want to pay him 100 million for 7 years and mortgage the franchise in the process. We're down right now, so it's easy to kick us for not keeping him, but in the long run it was the right decision. The only regret I have is that we didn't trade him when we had the chance.

      100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.

Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.

      In my dream, we somehow luck into a top 2 pick and someone wants a QB bad and doesn’t want anyone else to jump them. Somehow we’ll probably screw up the picks anyway, but it would be nice to do even partially what Chicago did to us. We’d have to lose out, which is a decent possibility unless Tampa is resting. We need Atlanta to stay within a game because Atlanta beat Tampa twice. The rest of the draft slots are who knows because Jax plays the Raiders and then Tennessee and you never know who will rest starters. I think we are top 7 unless we somehow pull out 2 more wins. The 4 win teams have higher SOS and there is only one 5 win team with the same SOS. If we win 1 of 3, we still should stay in top 7. If we lose out and the Jax games work for us, we can easily be top 3.
