Why is this song in movie commercials?

Always have liked the song, but why for the last few years is it in movie commercials and it's not in the movie. Lately it's been popping up in "romantic comedy chick flick" commercials. Is it the dog whistle song for men to run as fast as possible from this movie?

Just the commercial, it's playing on that newest poo movie "Life as we know it"

Because it's catchy music. There are plenty of songs that have been used in movie trailers over and over and over.

As for why it isn't in the actual movies, that's because the movie trailers are contracted out to independent studios.
