Jerry Richardson called me this morning! Not a joke

My thoughts as well. And what happened to his promise of a SB win within 10 years?

Send them an e-mail. I sent one this afternoon and Danny Morrison called me at 5pm on the way home from work. He said he was in Chicago at some NFL meetings and was forwarded my e-mail. He addressed all of my questions. I still can't believe he called. I thought some ticket agent would call. Classy organization, no doubt.

This is all fine and dandy, but you are guys are forgetting some points. The fact we've kept a mediocre coaching staff year after year, Fox's blind loyalty starting Delhomme/Foster too many years, didn't have a QB ready for when Jake was done, never had a coaching staff that could develop a QB or WR's (we got lucky with Smith/Moose), and no back to back winning seasons. He's the main guy, so all this falls to him. He didn't care, he was making money. This is still the guy that would rather put a NFL logo in the middle of the field instead of a Panthers logo.

I was skeptical about this, so I tried it out and I just got off the phone with Danny Morrison...

Big kudos to the Panthers organization, can't imagine the president of any other NFL franchise taking time out of his day to call fans that send feedback email.

I was critical in my email but didn't want it to be all negative so I mentioned that I appreciated how Mr. Morrison walked around at mini-camp handing out roster sheets to the folks that were watching, which may have been why he called me instead of JR?

The main point of my feedback email was that I was concerned about our recent personnel decisions, specifically the purging of veteran players and the decision to rely on so many rookies and young players in key positions, because these decisions appear to be more about cutting costs than being competitive.

His response was basically what I expected to hear, he said that we are in a "re-tooling" phase right now but we did not expect to be playing so poorly. He said the biggest surprise to the organization has been that the defense is playing better than the offense, since the assumption in the preseason was that the defense would be the weak link. He assured me that Mr. Richardson is as competitive as ever and the hope is that they will come out of this re-tooling phase with a successful and sustainable team for many years to come.

He also made a point of mentioning the criticism JR has taken for not speaking publicly about the current state of the franchise, he said that JR has been consistent from day 1 about his approach to the media, he wasn't "prancing up and down the sideline" during our SB appearance when times were good so it's not as if he's hiding now that times are bad... I thought this was an excellent point.

He thanked me for taking the time to provide the feedback and I thanked him for taking the time to call me and address my concerns.

You can choose to believe me or not, I have no proof of any of this but I think I've built up a reasonable amount of credibility around here to be given the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah, I immediatley had a vision of Jerry Jones when he said it - LOL

I hang around practice quite a bit and a couple of the guys recognize me and know me by name at this point, but not Danny Morrison.
