Jerry Richardson called me this morning! Not a joke

That's cool Carolina Mike. I only saw him once, me and my friend were playing ball at a gym in Fayetteville one morning, I think in 04 or 05, can't remember now, but it was also a Kiwanis Center... I walked out to get some water and this big guy walks in, and it took me a minute, and I was like "wait, that's JR..." I'm thinking it was 04 b/c the Superbowl memories seemed to be running through my head at the time...

It was so low-key, and I don't even know that it was publicized much before hand, I was blown away... I had been playing a while so I was in stank/sweaty mode, but I was going to wait for when he came out and tell him how much the Panthers meant to me and thank him for it, but apparently it was some kind of breakfast thing he was doing so he was in there for awhile and I had to get back home. I still regret that I didn't talk to him, but I think it also had something to do with me having a pre-conceived notion that he wouldn't care what I said b/c he's rich and could give a crap less... That wasn't just because it was him, I'm usually like that with most people anyway and think they prefer not to be bothered.

Wow, JR was rocking some chill ass loafers on for your ass...

I tend to believe the OP, but why send this message to individuals....and then have Marty Hurney come out as your mouthpiece to the masses and try to claim that none of their moves have to do with cutting costs and the lockout, that they really believe that our young guys were going to put is in a position to win, etc.

See the prior post. It's not his style to be the center of attention.

Knowing this has happened before, I'd tend to believe it. The post sounds like a pretty reasonable response.

Your team is crap and in complete shambles. Rather than call your head coach into your office and chew him out or have a meeting with players to try and tell them that it'll be ok long term, you call a random know-nothing fan (no disrespect intended OP) and give him your mission statement.

I no longer wonder why my favorite sports franchise is currently in the toilet.

I would've had a lot more questions if he told us what he was planning to do with Fox or if he told us what happened with Peppers...

But, this seems to make perfect sense in terms of letting a fan know what's going on, but speaking to them in that context of being the owner of a business talking to an outsider. It makes sense to me and falls in line with his history.

how do you know this hasn't been done? Are you a carolina panther staff member?

No I'm not Saltman and no, I don't know if this has been done or not. But as far as I'm concerned the twenty minutes he spent talking to the OP is twenty minutes he could have spent doing something productive to make this team not the worst team in the NFL by a wide margin.

he probably hasn't but I just thought I would be an ass and make an assumption.

While I believe JR would indeed call people, I do not believe he would share that sort of specific information with you, knowing you could in turn share it with the media. He won't even say that to the media. Unless he knew you'd tell somoene, and it'd spread. Haha.

If you're a troll, sensational work.

well in fairness, not sure JR shared anything with him except for what everyone already assumed was occuring.

anyway, that is my 2 cents....gotta run, meeting President Obama for brunch.

Never has never will.... He does not want the spotlight on him. If you want an owner like that cheer for the cowboys.

I don't want an owner who craves the spotlight like JJ, that's not at all what I'm talking about.

I do want an owner that's accountable, especially to the PSL holders since they are investors in this team. When you are 0-5, I think it's time to step into the spotlight for a moment and talk to people... especially people who have paid thousands of dollars in advance to watch this hot pile of garbage.

Aside from all that, from a PR standpoint it would be a smart thing to do - the buck stops with JR so that's the guy we should be hearing from, not Hurney.

I admire JR's efforts to reach out to individual fans, but that's not good enough in the current situation... he needs to speak to all of us.
