I have always wondered what it was like

brentson said the funniest thing about the 2001 team yesterday on fnz

Frank: "Was there a lot of infighting on the team in 2001?"

Buck: "No, mostly a lost of laughing. I mean, we were last in offense and defense. Not a lot of fingers to point."

We have no idea what it feels like to be like them.

They have been pretty consistently retarded for years. We have had relatively successful over the past 10 years.

We might be kind of like the rams.

If we suck for the next 5 years we might know what they feel like.

Right on...the Rams analogy holds water, especially if we are scraping the bottom from now until around 2014. The Lions and Browns? Folks need to read up on the history for those two squads....I can't convey it accurately in a simple message board post just how bad they have had it. Also, remember that the Ravens are the Browns after a relocation, except the Cleveland fans felt the agony of the Super Bowl win that their team accomplished in another town. Also note that the Rams were the Los Angeles Rams....and the Arizona Cardinals were the St. Louis Cardinals. While I'm at it, the Patriots were terrible for over 30 years before they hit the current Belecheck/Brady era. Oh, and the 49ers and Dallas used to be Dynasties. I could go on, but if folks can't get the picture, then they will just have to be Emo Panther fans.

Been a fan since the Panthers became a team. I remember watching the NFC championship game on TV and cursing at my friends because we lost... I didn't get to experience the 'joys' of a losing season with you all, though. This is looking to be my first... hopefully my last.

Funny story...I became a Panthers fan because my boyscout troop or whatever it was called back then had the name Panthers. My mother bought me a Panthers jacket the year the team was announced or whatever, with the old logo that got replaced super fast, since I needed a cold weather jacket and she thought I was into boyscouts (uggh). Since I didn't have an NFC team I followed at that point (I liked the Dolphins because I had some weird love of sea mammals that I have since grown out of), I picked 'em up. They became my favorite team over time, but I wasn't as obsessed with them as I am today until a bit later...

I really got to the level of interest I have today (as in, I'm kind of obsessed. I plan yearly trips to Charlotte that I never have money to make and Sundays are Panthers football days no matter what) because I joined a random fantasy football team draft in 2003, then forget about it. I got an email saying my team had been auto drafted for me, and I logged in to yahoo to find out I had a team made up of Steve Smith, Stephen Davis, and our D. I picked up Jake Delhomme in Week 2, and I began avidly watching Panthers clips after every game. I would feverishly refresh panthers.com and eventually the Observer site for info. Incidentally, my team did alright that year, but I realized I don't really like fantasy football. I do, however, like being obsessed with a team a half dozen states away.

Didn't find this site until last year though.

    • You talk about keeping the shtshow alive and well in Pantherland just bring in Prime and Shedeur....
    • Elite QBs are made and need a team to work around them or you end up with a Phillip Rivers situation, at best.  Sometimes the QB is just the missing piece, or the QB finds the other factors that lift their game. You couldn't ask for a better example of both of those situations than looking at the Stafford/Goff trade between LA and Detroit. Send either of those two guys to Carolina or Cleveland and they just flop around on the turf near the 35 yard line, game after game. And as to the Texans and Commanders... those are two well coached and well-built teams. Massive turnarounds in each location, a lot of buy in by players and grabbing solid performers where they could. They got their QBs, but they also put them in the right environment. You claim I'm a 1990s football guy, I claim you're basing your evaluation more on Madden and fantasy football.
