Did anyone hear Fox on Sirius today?

i don't know. i think he doesn't have the patience to work with a young team. he's alwasy thrived when he's had older guys he could turn to and now they are all gone (except kasay). he's now being sort of asked to fill a role that peppers was and i don't know that either are especially cut out for that kind of thing.

it would hurt to see smith in another jersey but i'd get over it.

anyway, we get a 3rd for him and that would give us 3 third rounders. not a bad deal, imo. use a couple of those to trade up into the late first or early 2nd round.

John Fox, just quit tomorrow please. Heaven forbid you have to coach a team full of young players, and your go-to, reliable mainstays have gone. Get me a hungry coach in here, Fox gtfo.

Funny how most people here think we are disastrous at drafting WR's but they want us to trade Smitty for a pick that would need to be used to draft a WR with.
i want us to trade for or pick up a solid younger vet. i didn't say i wanted use the thirds for drafting WRs.

crap...if a third can get someone smith or randy moss, what could we get for two third rounders or a third and a early fifth? probably someone just as good but who is younger and will have a longer future with the team.

start thinking outside the box a little.

then find another WR through FA or trade for one. apparently they are pretty cheap now a days.

you have to think about the big picture and long term in situations like that.

Why have to trade for one, or find a FA to replace what we all ready have?? This logic makes no sense to me.

Now If this was Steve's last year and he wanted out, okay I understand trading him to a contender to get something for him before he walks for nothing. But that is not the case. Makes no sense to me personally.

Sn a nutshell, he said on Sirius that practice would determine who starts at QB vs SF.

I totally agree with this.

As the Observer said, it's deck chairs on the Titanic at this point.

If Moore practices better and motivates the team I would give him a chance to "spark" the offense.

If Clausen practices better and motivates the team I would throw him back in there.

At this point I think they could go back to Moore and not ruin Clausen's confidence. I wouldn't advise it, Moore will be out of Carolina just as fast as Fox. For a team not making the playoffs there is really no use in starting him. BUT, I don't have anything against the guy personally and 2 or 3 people seem to love him here.

if you can find a WR that is just as good and will be better in 2-3 years as smith starts (or continues) his decline then why wouldn't you try to do that?

Thinking like that you end up with starters like Clowney, Devin Thomas, Lafell, AE and Gettis.... That's way outside the box.... How's that working out for us now at that position???

Steve has maybe 3 years left playing at a high level. He simply isn't as good as he once was. We remember SS...superman. He simply isn't that anymore.

If teams have a young player improving and on an incline I doubt they are just going to hand him over to us.... And if they do put a player like that on the market we will have to overspend and outbid every other team for that player.... That's not JR's Style.

Everyone is playing us the same way, so lets stick with the same game plan week in and week out.

Exactely... the quote in the interview really pissed me off. Just Fox being Fox, a stubborn coach who refuses to do anything different. He did this with every team he has had, not just this one. Its just being magnified even more now due to the level of talent on the field.

So basically he knows that teams are stacking the box with 8,9,and 10 players so he still runs it on every single 1st down until half way through the third qtr against the Bears. That plus the running it three times in the red zone to settle for a FG on that first drive. Not one attempt for the endzone or a first down.

This is the part that is making me angry with the rebuilding. Is we have a lame duck coach and that man is John Fox who is in charge of it right now.

This guy did a better job than I did of summarizing it:

Abusive at TBR wrote:

--to Tim Ryan: "well, you being in CLT was a positive."

--on the positives from Sunday: "we did get a slow start. we had a young safety starting and had a misfit on a 58-yard run. we had a nice punt to Devin Hester, with more poor fits. Really same old story, we just don't have any production on offense"

--fox says "we're young in some key positions, and going in without Otah and Smith hurts"

--"receivers and quarterbacks--we're young and taking our lumps. nowhere to go but up"

--"well, if it was more cleared up in my mind (QB), I could give you an answer. we'll do whatever it takes." lol

--"between our QB's, we have 13 starts" lol

--"it's not an excuse, we've gotta get better. i like the character and work ethic of our team. we're young and that takes time"

--"we had a little wildcat play where he had the run/pass option and you saw armanti's explosiveness"

--"in a nutshell, it's 9-in-the-box. sometimes, 10. until you can make them pay for it, you will continue to see it. it's a copycat league"

--when asked why he wouldn't spread defenses out and then run from spread "well, like I said, we've thought that, but let's not forget, Chicago has a salty group" .fuger.

--"i think nick hayden and james anderson are having career years"

--on Baker "it's been well documented, in 2 of 3 phases, we're getting things done. until we get something going offensively, we won't win any games. we're averaging 10 points a game. i thought baker did well"

--on bye week "get Fri, Sat, Sun off---use it to get them fresh and healed and get some guys game ready"

--on Pep "well, he's a great player there, and was a great player here. he's carrying it over"

--"it's all part of teaching. these guys come from all walks--they're young, rich and famous, and that's enough to screw anyone up" lolz

Jesus, Foxy's a different cat with Kirwan and Ryan.
