Can't wake up for school.

The Question

Recommended Posts

If I could go back in time there are so many things I would change. Working hard in highschool would be one of them. Regrets are a bitch and the only thing u can control is now and not tomorrow or yesterday.

Two things I would change:

Willing to stand in a line wrapped around the movie theater to go see a movie with three of the more popular girls in school.

and Not quitting baseball after tearing my ACL. - Actually regret this one more.

Man, if youre high when you go to bed, that really affects your getting out of bed in the AM. If you are having trouble getting to sleep, try taking a cool shower, a hot shower raises the body temp and wakes you up...

For the AM, set your clock like 30min fast. When you look at teh clock as soon as you open your eyes, the shock should jolt you awake. Works for me, but now my bedroom clock is 65 minutes ahead of real time...

I had this problem most of my life. I have slept through Hurricanes earthquakes and Tornadoes. My biggest problem is getting to sleep the night before I would stare at the celing for hours and never get to sleep. The only way I solved it was to shorten my sleep cycle. I used to get 7-8 hours of sleep a day now I get 6-7. Its hard at first my you get used to it.

Here is how I get up, and I'm pretty sure I get up earlier than you and often with less hours of sleep:

1) I have 3 alarms set on my phone at about 10 minutes apart as they repeat at least once every five minutes anyway. This is to ensure that I am not totally late. If I get up by the 3rd alarm I still have enough time to get ready but no extra time.

2) I have my laptop connected to a good set of speakers (with is kind of irrelevant, as many laptops have pretty loud speakers anyway) and I have a task set up in the Task Scheduler to open up a Windows Media Player playlist file which will cause it to automatically start playing the playlist. I have this task set to go off the latest (about 20 minutes past the last alarm on my phone) in case I am having major problems waking up that morning. The volume is turned up on the PC and WMP to the point where the song is easily heard from across the house.

3) I want to get up and go. This is the biggest one. If you aren't motivated to get up every day and "get the job done" then these methods will help you, but there is a bigger problem that needs to be fixed.

Glass of milk before bed. In bed by 11 or 11:30. Dockery's multiple alarm technique is actually similar to mine. 3 alarms on my phone, 30 minutes apart (I'm in my 3rd year of college and get up at 7 for my 9 o clock class. I know, overachiever). My alarm clock has 2 alarms. I set those to go off 2 minutes before the last 2 alarms on my phone (so I am up by around 8). This gives me the option of having an hour to get up, dick around, go to class. Or, I can get up, take a shower, go to breakfast, study a bit, THEN go to class if I get up on my 7 o clock alarm.

Big thing is get motivated. Don't sleep all weekend either. Set alarms on the weekends so your brain recognizes it. All you REALLY need is like, 7 hours of sleep anyway. Not hard to train yourself.
