Can't wake up for school.

The Question

It's the only thing that gets me to sleep :( catch 22

Smoking weed to go to sleep doesn't deter my ability to get up in the mornings. Its all about motivation. You need to man up and realize you need to get outta bed right when your alarm goes off.

Put your alarm across the room and make it really loud and obnoxious so you HAVE to get up and walk over to turn it off. Go directly to the shower instead of snoozing and getting back in bed.

Don't your parents make sure you are awake?

Are you depressed? I started having the same problem sophomore year in college. I haven't been able to get up in the morning normally ever since.

Maybe a little. I don't know really, i'm not really satisfied with my situation right now. I just moved to this area from Charlotte when I turned 16 and Brunswick county is a total difference/culture shock. I dont feel much anymore haha i guess thats normal for a 17 -cough- 18 year old guy though

Stop making excuses, stop smoking weed, and get your ass to school.

It's all about what is important in your life. If you want to be a bum the rest of your days, just keep telling yourself that weed is good for you, and that you need to sleep more than normal people.

I never said I needed more sleep than normal people. I mean I know it's most likely a case of lacking discipline/motivation, I never said weed was good for me either, and my biggest fear is ending up a failure. My older siblings are both losers and I don't want to disappoint my parents.

Well it seems like a fairly simple problem... get an alarm if you don't already have one... turn it up loud and set it correctly and place it where you cannot reach it from bed. When it goes off, get the hell up and don't lay back down.

Get your crap together while you're young... you can screw off later... when you go off to college, don't take early classes... that's what I did... never had a class before 10AM then you don't have get up early.

I've said this many of times, I am not a school guy, I hate school.

I had a poo load of trouble getting out of bed to go to school, for me it was just the fact of growing up and the school work was just getting harder with every grade I moved up.

I missed tons of school in grade school, I slipped by somehow. High school was a little easier. I still hated school, and once I got to my senior year I was like fug it, I graduated early to get out of there. Best decision of my life.

I went through some depression poo when I was younger, I wouldn't say I was depressed, I would just say I really didn't give a sh it about school, and that kinda rubbed my parents the wrong way.

Talk to your parents, go see a therapist, get some meds. Just get through this year and get to college, you basically start a whole new life once you get into college.

Not trying to be a badass or anything, just don't make excuses for something that hundreds of millions of Americans do every day.

If you have to be up at 7 am to get to school, get to bed, lights out no later than 11:30, close your eyes and go to sleep. If you don't drift off right away, get up at 7, and do the same thing again. Your body is probably not in a pattern of sleep, establish one.

I'm just trying to get through to the college part. I have a 3.27 gpa so im not worried about being accepted to where i want to go. just going through the bullpoo to get there

You SHOULD be worried. Colleges are getting harder and harder to get into. I graduated 2 years ago and I wouldn't be able to get into where I went now with the grades I had then.

Work hard for it.
