Agent Story on SI

Not to make this a political thread... but I'm shocked if this is a shock to any of you. This country is corrupt from the people who sweep streets to the President of any given company. Why would pro or college athletes, their agents, coaches, managers or owners be exempt from this?

Welcome to the United States of Corruptica.

Interesting read. You have to know these agents are paying players all over the place. But in the end does it matter all that much? $500 a month isn't all that much. I understand why the NCAA has their stance, it's extremely messy when you start thinking about paying college players, but are these agents really that evil?

From a subjective moral stand, probably not. Since it's so widespread.

But technically and legally, they are.

Personally, I don't agree with the NCAA's stance. All they are doing is keeping money out of the player's hands, while the schools rake in the cash with TV deals and marketed brand goods.

If the focus was on making the player's time at the university focused on academics, then why encourage behavior unassociated with academics by promoting a business based on the team?

It's a double standard, and the schools all support the NCAA's stand on this, because they don't want to have to pay for otherwise free talent.
