At a minimum, Davidson must go

I can understand Fox being allowed to stick around for the rest of the season (even though I hate him as a coach and his general attitude), since hes going to be gone at the end of the season anyway. But I cannot understand JR sitting around with the worst offense in the league and 0-5, and not firing Davidson considering it has become quite clear to any football fan watching these games that our offense is pathetic.

I am tired of seeing run plays that go for one yard losses, for us to only have 3rd and long and Clausen getting bombarded with pressure while attempting to throw to rookies who have caught about 10 passes collectively. If JR isn't going to address the fans through words, he can at least show fans that he still cares about this season and will not put up with this putrid offensive performance by firing Davidson.

We should be a balanced football team that keeps defenses guessing whether we are going to pass or run, and that is when Stewart and Williams will have big days. That is the only way that there won't be 8 or 9 in the box.

There are teams with much less talent that are doing better on offense than us. I literally feel sick to my stomach watching this offense conduct itself, and then John Fox sit down in his press conference and say "it is what it is" and give his "I don't have anything meaningful to say and it doesn't seem like I care about this team at all" speech. At least show some emotion.

If change is going to happen after this year, why wait? Start now, at a minimum with Davidson.

It is clear that the O is pathetic. It is also clear that JD has no answers. We don't do things well that are signs of well-coached teams:

1. Screens

2. Throw to RBs

3. No false starts

4. Pass (most teams can rely on TEs, three step drops, RBs out of the backfield, the FB, seam routes, fades, gos, etc. What can we do well?) NOTHING.

5. Misdirections and reverses. Yes, we tried to give Gettis the ball out of the wildcat, a play that took WAY too much time and fooled nobody. These things keep the defense honest. We can't do them.

Davidson is rather stupid.

We need to get the best OC we can, a guy that'll be here for awhile. Firing Davidson and then bringing in another guy for 11 games, only to hire someone else long term in the offseason seems like it would set our young players development back more than it would help. Thinking long term here rather than winning now.

It's possible our next HC is an offensive guy and will want his own guy that works well with his system. Davidson blows but I don't really see an upside to bringing someone in to flip everything around for only 11 games when our guys are going to have to learn a new system as it is.
