How do we know Pike wasn't drafted to be the franchise QB? Why waste a draft pick on a guy you never plan to play?

also, P55, Vick/Kolb is not a QB carousel as I meant it in my post(even if it technically could be one) in the way I don't feel the wildcat is a QB carousel. Just a different formation in a sense; in what example you are giving, Kolb and Vick would be running different plays. You are totally correct that in that case it can work very well, though honestly I think the way Vick was playing means that it doesn't matter. Don't think I've seen him be so consistent with his arm ever before.

they liked his intangibles. apparently they thought he reminded them of jake personality-wise. they were pretty high on him as were quite a few others. to me he seemed more of a system QB. that was pretty evident from how well the team did when he got hurt.

i'm not defending the pick, btw. i just don't know who we would have gotten there would have been better for the team. it was worth a shot that late in the draft. all draft picks are gambles but the later ones are even more-so. it's just that they are low risk gambles.
