Israel Idonije saw fear on Sunday

To be honest he's not playing like a rookie. Also, there was so much hype around him about being "NFL Ready" that his failures are amplified. A lot of rookies that have come out lately have looked miles ahead of Clausen. It's not that he isn't putting up points, it's that he isn't moving the ball at all. Even Sanchez in his turnover filled rookie season had the ability to make plays. I'm not even going to bring up the other rookies who have played extremely well.

He actually is playing like a rookie Sanchez had some 4 pick games and many many stupid mistakes himself. Along with Flacco his rookie season etc...

Secondly what you are not taking into account is that Sanchez also had recievers to throw to we havent provided adequate support to HELP DEVELOP OUR "SO CALLED" FRANCHISE QB. The line is playing poorly no run game and rookie wideouts what a great way to help ease him into his new job.

Fox & Hurney thanks for the two memories in 9 years!!!!!

The difference is those rookies were playing like rookies, moving the ball some, making some mistakes. I don't think Clausen is going to go out there and play out of his mind. But tell me this, when you were watching the game on Sunday, was there ever a moment in the game where you said to yourself, "Man, I feel a nice drive coming" or was it more like, "Jesus I hope D Will breaks one off so we can move the ball."

I just want some hope of a nice drive, some chance that we can string a few nice plays together and I haven't seen that from him. Other rookies have highs and lows. He's had mostly lows.

to clausen defense his offensive weapons are non existent.....at least sanchez, ryan, even flacco had some one they could count on..

To say that this is the worst O-line the Panthers have ever had is absolutely absurd. We have two pro-bowlers on the O-line and a couple more guys who could make a case for the pro-bowl (though one is Otah). This is an O-line that tore sh*t up the past two seasons. For whatever reason they're playing like horse piss right now, but this is a line with the talent to be one of the best in the league, and we've certainly see them play like one of the best in the league.

They fluked their way to the pro-bowl about as much as the saints fluked their way to a super bowl championship ffs.

Sanchez had Thomas Jones running, and Jericho Cotchery, Braylon Edwards, and Dustin Keller. The defense was the best in the league his rookie year, and the running game was the league's best.

Flacco had Willis McGahee, Ray Rice, Mark Clayton, Derrick Mason, and Todd Heap. The defense was the 3rd best in the league his rookie year, and they had the fourth best running game.

Ryan had Michael Turner, Roddy White, and Michael Jenkins. The defense was the 11th best in the league that year, and they were second in rushing.

So they all had effective ground attacks, experienced receivers, and great defenses. They also all had simplified playbooks, for what that's worth.

Right now the Panthers have the 12th best defense in the league, they're 22nd in rushing, and they have three rookie wide receivers and two guys who couldn't stick on their original rosters.

But compare Clausen to them. It's a real apples-to-apples thing you've got going on there.

Not only that, but Ryan has since come back down to earth after starting out on fire. He's very average right now. Just give the kid time. I don't have the right answers on whether to start or sit him, but I think he will be okay. He's going about things the right way. He's taking the blame, being professional, and always focusing on the team in the post-game interviews. As much as we suck, I could feel worse.

I've been beating down Clausen lately, but I've also said that it's not a done deal that he can't play. He just hasn't looked good at all. There's something deeper going on than just his play though, to his credit.

Tell me how many times we've passed on 1st down this year? I only remember once, although I'm sure it happened more than that, but it's a very, very, VERY small percentage. The offense is too predictable and we keep setting the QBs up to fail on 3rd and longs. Then they end up only getting like 5-10 passes in teh 1st half b/c we keep going 3 and out and aren't staying on the field.

Who REALLY thought Moore was going to look as bad as he did? I still don't think he IS that bad, nor is Clausen. Both have made some erratic throws and bad decisions, but I'm attributing a great deal of their struggles to whatever else is going on with this offense... It's not just the line, it's the playcalling, and something just is amiss like there is no cohesion in this unit. So, as I said, it doesn't matter who the QB is, until whatever the "it" is gets fixed, they will continue to struggle.

I certainly hope Clausen turns out to be a great one, it's just very hard to see past how bad this offense as right now, and only a small piece of the pie goes on the QB for that in this case.

Clausen has to start somewhere. Would you rather him sit on the bench and then start next year and make all the mistakes next year and waste 2 years? He wont get it down unless he plays. Stop bitching about him struggling. Hes a rookie. The sooner he gets in there the better.
